So I bought an SKS recently and was doing the cosmoline removal yesterday. During bolt disassembly I accidentally dropped the extractor and the spring popped out, never to be seen again. What are my options here, will another random spring that fits do the job? I noticed yesterday that Lever Arms sells SKS extractor springs but it does not specify which model they are for, are extractor springs interchangeable between all models of SKS? Mine is a 1950 Russian, the bolt has the firing pin with a spring and no pin holding the extractor.

Any help would be appreciated, with the cosmoline removed I am aching to shoot this thing.

Dont worry friend, SKS have same spring doesnt matter the year:) I dont like the early SKS model because the extractor is remarquably easy to remove, its my bet that the russian changed the design because of that.

Thanks for the replies!

My dad was going to be in the city tomorrow, so I asked him to drop by the store where I bought the SKS to see if they had parts available. With luck I will have a replacement spring tomorrow evening; if not I will go ahead and order one from Lever Arms and kick myself for losing the original until it gets here.

I'm happy to report that the replacement spring (and a spare) arrived yesterday. Took the SKS out for the first time today and fired off three boxes of shells without a hitch.
