Need some Luger help

I recently bought a Luger. It is a WW1 bring back that has been converted to restricted it also has a repo mag. Went to the range with it today to try it out and see how it shoots. The problem that I am having with it is when I load it and pull the trigger it will fire, eject the spent shell and reload but it will not fire the second time. I have to open the action and close it again (with out ejecting the new cartridge) and then it will fire. I was using reloads that work in my CZ75B with no problems. dose any one know why it will do it and what can I do to fix it?

I don't think it's an ammo problem. If it can eject and reload a round then it should be ok.

Check the spring loaded plunger at the end of the sear bar. Sometimes they get sticky and don't pop out all the way, or the trigger is not resetting far enough to allow the plunger to pop out.

Check the sear bar to make sure it has enough tension to hold the firing pin (should take a little effort to push in with a thumb).

Lugers can be very finicky with ammo. Try buying some factory ammo....

Most Lugers need full power rounds.

Get some factory ammo and try that.

115gr American Eagle was cycling the ones I was shooting last week.

I had a look at the little plunger and it takes very little effort to push it in. Is that normal?? It really has very little spring tension. If I #### the pistol the sear catches the firing pin like it should, but when I pull the trigger and hold it back and #### it again the sear will not catch the firing pin. This seems odd but I know noting about Luger's.... is this normal or should the sear hold the firing pin back?

Try this experiment. Pull and hold the trigger. #### the pistol while holding the trigger. Slowly release the trigger. You should hear the click of the plunger popping out. If you pull the trigger and nothing happens, then the plunger may be binding on the transfer bar. The trigger transfer bar has to push against the plunger to release the firing pin.

When I hold the trigger and #### the gun and release the trigger slowly then I do hear a click. Is it possible the the spring pushing the plunger is not pushing hard enough to allow the system to work properly?

The plunger spring should feel like clicking a pen and the sear bar spring around five to ten lbs. I can't think of anything else that could be a problem other than the sear and firing pin being broken or worn out.
