He's long retired. He had a new job he started a couple of months ago and yes, he's been quiet since.

Last I heard he was working on a restoration for a museum - maybe in Shilo. Probably just too busy to post.

I think the saying goes something like "rumours of my passing have been greatly exaggerated".

Cantom has pretty much got it right, although you have to add a recent road trip to Alabama for the military vehicle collectors convention, and another quick trip "in province" to drag home another mil vehicle project for later. Add to that a term position at the local base museum and my spare time has been down to nothing.

Hey, if you're working at the museum, maybe you can correct some of the tags in the small arms exhibit.

Alas, I am just the lowly mechanic. I have made a few changes on some of the CMP vehicles (ie: they had most of the wheel nuts all painted red when it should have been the nuts to hold the two rim halves together) and some of the signage still has errors on it. I have noticed a few errors on some of the small arms in the past, but since working there, have not had time to visit the weapons room. With over 50 vehicles in the collection, there is a lot of attention required.

This was a good job for me. I owned my first military vehicle when I was 17, and have owned over a hundred of them since then. The progression to firearms collecting was just a natural addition to the vehicles, just as radios or uniforms could have been.
