I like the Edgun but I understand you can not buy it in Canada.

What is the thinking on the Sumatra 2500? I want a PCP that allows quick shooting.

I have my pal (and rpal, etc). Money is not an issue, I want something that is accurate and allows me to shoot fairly fast. The Sumatra is lever action which is probably as fast as you can shoot a pellet.

Not interested in springers or co2, got lots of them already :D

Eager for input from thems thats been there :)

I have heard good things about Evanix. The semi auto versions use a battery and solenoid to work the action.

You could also look at an Fx Revolution or Monsoon.

Airgunsource carries both.

FX would be what I'd be looking at if "money were no object". I can't even say that without wondering (out loud) what the appeal of these "super" guns is when they usually eclipse the cost of a .22rimfire, and sometimes rival the report as well. There is usually more that can go wrong with them too, not to mention what's required to set them up to shoot.

Please don't take that as a criticism, it's just the way I view airguns in that price/complication/noise range.

Disclaimer: I don't have one or know anyone with one. I searched "Airgunforum" for "Sumatra" and got 370 hits. you could ask there.

I'm guessing another need is power for hunting?
If you like levers and big bores, the shopping list is very, very short. The Sumatra is cool because of the lever, I agree. I've come close to clicking 'BUY' a couple of times, but the price scared me off.

If fast cycling side-levers and bolt action are acceptable, makers on the other side of the Atlantic could be an option. Very, very happy with my RWS.

If your primary spec's are speed, small game, and price is no object, I agree with a previous post that the FX Revolution in 5.5 is worth considering.

I've owned this...

Its basically a .22lr as for a power, usefullness, noise, etc.... and as stated, a .22lr is much easier to shoot (pumping is a lot of work, and a scuba tank is LARGE to move around)...

Having said that, its a beautiful gun. The quality, craftsmanship, etc is top notch.

I did sell mine because I bought it to use in the field... but was way to nice to use in the field, and I could not justify owning it and not using it... I ended up buying a Gamo Dynimax (also a 10 shot repeater)... not power adjustable.

If you buy one, you will love it.

My friend has a Sumatra. It's extremely loud and an air-hog. You get a few full power shots before it noticeably starts dropping in juice.

If money is no object, FX Airguns make true semi-auto airguns and that Evanix in the video looks pretty legit.

Theoben Rapid Range

I have the mk1 which is at about 25ft/lbs & 50 shots, but can be taken down to 12ft/lbs giving 400+ shots on one fill.

The mk2 in Canada is around $1800 including tax

Rapid Mk2 gives following.

.22
shots
12ft/lbs 420
30ft/lbs 90
40ft/lbs 40

.25
Shots
33ft/lbs 140
40ft/lbs 70
50ft/lbs 40

many thanks to all those who have taken the time to reply.

I spent the better part of 2 days reading and watching videos, Daystate, FX, etc, some really nice stuff out there I had no idea about. Several that you can not get in Canada but many that you can.

After reading all that is involved with PCP I must admit I am a bit discouraged. Going to think on this for a bit.

I fill my precharged pneumatic and take it to the range, shoot 50 or more shots before it starts to drop off in velocity, and by then I'm bored and ready to shoot something else. Once you have the gun, charging station and a scuba tank, its pretty easy going.

Hi guys

Where can one get the Sumatra in Canada?
I've looking around as I had my eyes set on this rifle for a while now, but cannot find a place where I could purchase one.

xp

I own a .25 carbine Sumatra. I wanted a short rifle for hunting.
I agree it has great fit and finish.
The lever action is not what you might expect in a "repeater" The lever is to stiff to allow a quick follow up shot.
Power and noise equal a .22lr
I own a steel tank, but mostly pump by hand.

Its a great air rifle for the money, but as others have said a .22lr is more practical.
So, its for local sale (Vancouver)

I've been lusting about the Steyr LG110 HP .177
