They can ask for whatever they want to...

Hell.. I guy I work with was going to Chicago for a wedding and they asked to see his wedding invitation :D

All the "invite" does is support your "stated reason" for enetering the US.

Under the old ruling the invite was one of the options you needed to comply with. Now we won't need either. That said I am going down in two weeks with invite in hand...just in case'

Yes, but regardless... DHS can "ask" for anything to support your stated reason for entering the US.

I've shot both the Wyoming & Montana State Championships for Cowboy action in the last 6 weeks, when crossing the US border they asked for a passport, form 6NIA & a match invite. I got back from Montana last Sunday. I went through the Coutts border crossing in Alberta.

Did something change at the BATFE? I thought we needed either match invites or a hunting license to support our form 6NIA.
 
Hopefully the form 6 will be amended soon then, I am going this weekend, bringing the invite just in case.

Having had border guards tell me that guns kill people, I will still be getting invites for major matches, its just easier than arguing
