870 supermag barrels

The max shell length for the shotgun is determined by the barrel's chamber length max. Do not shoot 3" shells through a 2.75" chambered barrel!

Yes, thanks, I understand that part. Just didn't know if there were any issues using the 3" or 2 3/4" barrels other than using the correct shell size.

Can you use a 3 1/2 barrel on a 2 3/4 - 3 receiver and use 3 1/2 shells? Or is the receiver different?

From a safety standpoint, you will know when assembling whether the barrel fits the receiver properly. One problem will be that the ejection port on the 2.75 and 3" receiver will not be long enough to cycle the 3.5" shells properly. There will likely be other feeding issues as well. So, yes, I believe the receiver to be different.

Yes, Yes and Yes...but it wouldn't be practical!!! You can put a 3.5" barrel on a 2.75" or 3" reciever and fire off a 3.5" shell...however it will be a single shot !!! You will have to manually load the 3.5" shell in the chamber then disassemble the gun to remove the fired hull because there are differences in the reciever, bolt and ejector that will prevent the gun from cycling properly.
