for that id be doing .5gn, that will narrow you down pretty quick within 1.5-2gn and then refine with .2gn within that range. the .300wm is a pretty big case, so starting off with .2gn would leave you with alot of unnessisary shooting (for the sake of load development)

.5gr steps to get you in the zone and .2 or .3gr up and down from the sweet spot for tuneing...
 
Before starting to reload for 300 WM, I had seen many posts on the net from guys saying it performs best near or at maximum loads. That was my eventual experience with it as well. So start off at the min load, working up in .5 increments until you get to the last grain below max load, then switch to .2 increments.
