Well I just made a trade for a ruger77/44, a 44mag bolt action, what ammo would you use for deer, can't use the hornady pointed stuff it won't fit in the mag, rifle really likes american eagle 240gr hollow points
 
I bought one 4 years ago and have never looked back
I shoot Hornady lever rev out of it and it drives one hole at 50 yards
Performance on deer was so good in our camp 4 people now carry them.

Everything it has touched was put on the pole

Love the gun.
 
i use barnes vor-tx 225 gr ammo. works great, i switch on and of between the ruger 44 mag and my savage scout in 308 for deer hunting. the ruger is such a joy to carry though because its so light!

Factory ammo certainly does fit in the mag. (I just checked)
If your reloading and haven't shortened the cases a tad as per Hornady specks, then, no, they won't fit
 
A 270 gr Speer over a healty dose of Litt'gun and it does make for a perfect 125 metres brush gun..JP.
