Speaking of flat shooting, what about the 9.3 with the 250gr Nosler Accubond?...

Yes - with top hand loads and sighting in, all of a sudden those medium bores aren't so short-legged any more. As you say they can deliver the necessary energy and bullet velocity too to 300 and beyond. Though the 9.3x62 is slightly superior, I discovered similar results using my 35 Whelens a long while ago - http://www.35cal.com/longrange35.html

As has been said before,the 35 Whelen is a great cartridge.but falls short when compared with the 9,3x62.Bullet range from 180gr to 320gr and having said that the 180gr gets 3000 plus f/s.I shoot the 250gr Accubond @2585f/s in a 23"barrel.
One things is certain,that it hits game hard and till now,i never had game walk more than 10feet.
with a bit of pratice and the right scope 300 or even 400yds should not be an issue,if one needs it. Two of my friends have one too and just love the hard hitting and soft recoiling cartridge.
She is not in the league of a 375 H&H,especially when handloads are used,that is where the 9,3x64 comes in.

Out of curiosity, I went into cabelas today to see if they stocked 9.3x62 Ammo and there was none to be found.

WSS north end has at least 2 brands, perhaps 3 IIRC

I loaded 250 tsx with Imr 4895 and lapua brass in a ruger safari and boy did it shoot, even with a lower power vx3 1.5-5.
Here are the first 7 shots out of her. A great round for bear, moose and even cape buff in a pinch.

At the risk of going slightly OT, do you have an opinion of the Horn. 286gr. SP, at full steam, as an all around 9.3x62 heavy game bullet?.

My Husky shoots them so well.

Just load them up and go! They perform well started at 2100 fps in the 9.3X57, all the way up to 2500 in the '62. I have not used that bullet on big game myself, but know a few guys who have, and they don't complain about it at all.

That is about how every 9.3X62 I have owned has shot, and I have had a few.

It is really a great hunting cartridge!

Not too surprising for Cabelas to not stock a cartridge like 9.3x62. They are a middle-of-the-road operation.

I'm toying with the idea of having my Browning Model 1895 rebored from 30-06 to either 9.3 x 62 or .35 Whelen. Hmmm...decisions, decisions.
