Just when I'd made up my mind to pick up a Ruger SR22 rifle I start shopping around and I'm told by a vendor that they aren't getting anything from Ruger for another 6 months.

Well, I think I'm going to have to find some other tactical 22LR to plink with. I'm just not impressed by the alternatives :( I really don't want to have to mess around with loctite and stuff.

They are busy,

Sturm, Ruger and Co. ended last year with 1.25 million bangs. That's how many guns the company sold in 2011 through its Million Gun Challenge, and that's how many dollars the company will donate to the National Rifle Association as a result of its success.

Ruger -- headquartered in Connecticut but with a large facility in Newport -- claims that no one has ever built and shipped more than a million guns in a year before.

"We achieved this milestone because of the strong support of our loyal consumers," said CEO Mike Fifer. "Everyone who purchased a Ruger during the past year contributed to this achievement and should take pride in making history."

Ruger sold 382,500 firearms in the last quarter, bringing its total over the 1 million goal. But the trend is accelerating in 2012, according to a release issued last month by the company.

Independent wholesalers placed orders for more than a million firearms by the first day of spring (though it is unclear over what period of time this order is to be filled), and Ruger issued a press release saying that it was suspending new orders until the end of May.

On May 1, the company said, it will file its quarterly report, which may offer more details.

The NRA isn't the only one benefiting from Ruger's sales explosion.

Last year the company reported sales of $324 million with a net profit of $40 million, or $2.14 a share. And its top five executives earned compensation packages in 2011 totaling $12.15 million -- more than triple what they earned a year ago.

Fifer got the biggest package, about $4.52 million, compared to $1.3 million the previous year. -- BOB SANDERS/NEW HAMPSHIRE BUSINESS REVIEW

try "delselins" i believe thats how you spell it hes a site sponsored seller and last time i checked he had sr22's. generally has an add up in the EE, very fair pricing too. $520 if im not mistaken.

Thanks for the suggestions all. For the EE, I prefer to deal with people in southern ontario so I can drive out there, look them in the eye, and shake their hand. I like doing things the old fashioned way.

The nomad/marauder stock does like mighty tempting though. Lots of stores are selling the 10/22, but the line I get all the time it seems now is that they are collecting personal info for "store purchases" which doesn't sit well with me.

stock question

I jsut got a new 10/22 and went with a strikeforce stock becasue wasn't able to find a nomad kit that wasn't way over priced am I better off jsut taking hte hit on the strikeforce and getting a nomad kit ?

strikeforce or archangel

ok I am really second guessing myself had a chance to get a archangel kit but it was way over priced so went with the more resonably priced strikeforce from ati. was 285 too much for an archangel kit ? have seen them way cheaper online but never can be sure of the true price on those sometimes it seems.

I've wanted a GP-100 for 2 years and haven't been able to swing the cash until recently....BARELY. I've had delivery estimates from 2 months to 'not til next year bud' well, I may have bought the last NEW S/S 4.2" GP-100 in the country! It popped up last week online at a place in B.C. and I had a money order out to them the next day! Rugers are getting SCARCE!

A couple weeks ago I tried finding a new SR22 online. I looked all over Canada. Everywhere was sold out. Finally found one at a shop in Manitoba. Called them to buy it over the phone. While processing my credit card someone bought the last SR22 off their website. Couldn't believe it! Missed out by only minutes. I gave up trying to find a SR22 and bought a Remington 597 VTR.

Every shop told me Ruger was backordered with an estimated date anywhere from 3-6 months. Thats too long of a wait for me.

I owned a 597 VTR for a year and it's a very accurate rifle. In that year I only had in my hands for about a month due to warranty issues. Sold it of course. That was my first rifle and with the knowledge I know about them and the easy tuning involved I would have kept it. My main issue was it kept tossing the extractor. But I'm not quite getting the Ruger models including the SR22 hard to find. My small local shop has 2 of them. Many site sponsors are daily updating there Ruger inventiry

I experienced the same thing . Went to 4 shops in my area and none had any sr22's . Ended up buying the stainless 10/22 and am in the process of modding it . I thought it would be a giant pain but, just yesterday I bought a ATI kit and despite reading reviews to the contrary , it only took about 40 mins to change it out . Easy peasy . I like the look better than the sr and once my other parts come in the mail it will be just what I wanted . Can hardly wait to get to the range tonight and try it out with the ATI kit ! Cost : 10/22 stainless- $260 , ATI kit- $129 , 2 Steel Lips mags -$52 , TOTAL- $441 . I'm happy with that . Considering the SR and the mags would have been closer to $600 I'm REALLY happy everyone was out of stock !
This is a great little gun ! I've put 500 rounds of dynapoint through it and it's a total hoot . The butler creek steel lips are super easy on the thumb to load and have performed perfectly .
Handled a vtr and didn't like how it shouldered on me ( That's why I like to actually have a gun in my hands before I purchase it ) . The vtr has excellent reviews and I surely would have gotten one if it felt right in hand .
Now I want a bunch of these great little 22s lol .
