Once again a huge herd of tuktu(caribou) is passing by my home town ... I watched as hundreds of quads and trucks went up our road to the Meladine River to shoot and get some tuktu. I'll listen to my elders and wait for the first wave to pass by and then go shoot some ... plus I heard from a good friend who went up last nite that it was the 'Ol K Coral out there ... BANG BANG BANG 360 degree's he said ... D'Oh! My damn deep freezer crapped out on me this spring ... hmmm ... time to buy a freezer me thinks? HAHA. Pics to follow soon.

Hello Otokiak,
I only hunt tuktu once with my son on area 22A near Polaris River during early december, I use 300Winchester Mag and Eric use 7mmRemington Mag.
I owns several rifle in many different caliber, but I end up using the 300WM on most of my hunt only because I am very confortable with... I own this gun since over 30 yrs. and if not in the hurry to takethe shoot I am confident to place the bullet on the target up to 400yrds, over that I never try.

Good and safe hunting O!

Post some pics if you can since a lot of people in the south have never seen really vas herds of caribou.

50BMG? HAHA ... I'm going to take a ride on my new quad tonite and go take some pictures ... see how big this herd really is ... then decide on rifle calibre and go maybe tomorrow or the next day after the first wave walks by town ... ;)

I was gunna say 4570 but u may kill or wound 2 or 3 behind it. 250 savage would be ideal from what I've heard bout caribou. 400lbs that give up the ghost rather easily. I love the taste and bet my 2506 would jello a fair bit of meat

Put the ghost outfit on and ride them into the corral........jeesh.
What kind of tuktu whispererer are you?............. :D

You know what to use there Big O.
