Hi guys, just short an sweet.
Would like to know which factory ammo you guys are using for hunting with the .303?
Also if you reload which pill is your preferred pill/

mostly for medium skinned game, an occaisionally for elk sized game.

Thanks in advance.

Try a couple different rounds to see what groups best for you. With my enfield, the Federal's with the 150gr soft points worked the best for me. Anything in the 150-180gr range is plenty for anything in North America.

I was on a hunt with a friend this past fall. He shot a large cow moose at 140 yrds with a 180gr Winchester power point from an old enfield. It dropped in its tracks.

Federal 150's will take down a bison. Yes I have done it. For reloading, Sierra is more consistant than Hornady. My enfield likes the 174's and 180's. Find what your gun likes and stick with it.

Winchester 180 pp is the hottest most powerful .303 cartridge. Prvi Partizan is just a hair behind it. Remington is at 30-30 power. Just look up the ballistics on each site.

Winchester PP is a wicked round but I find the PRVI to be good as well. My least liked round is the S&B 180g I just find them to lack in performance, but this is just out of my 2 enfields.

I'm lucky mine shoots several factory loads well enough, but I normally use my reloads with Hornady Interlock 174grain round nose. If I have to buy factory ammo I look for Remington Express 180grain Core-Lokt as it is close enough to my reloads that I haven't had to adjust zero.

I tried reloading Speer 180grain bullets once and they went all over the place. Never bothered with them again because everything else worked well enough for me, but I don't tell anyone else they shouldn't try them. Factory Federal with 150 and 180 grain, reloads with Sierra 150 and 180 grain spitzers - haven't shot a moose or elk yet but with any of these, everytime I've hit a deer where I should, it has gone down right where it was and stayed there and died before I could walk up to it. (I don't try anything past 200 metres, usually they are closer to 100.)

dont need alot of speed whats accurate is what counts no 2 guns are the same use what shoots best

for me on deer i use my cast reloads with a soft nose funny i got the mold from cast bullet engineering in AUS its one of his flat point molds

Thanks for the input, was for a fellow hunter!
one day i would like ot hunt with a ruger no 1!

My Ruger #1 shoots Federal 150s and Remington 180s very well. The Federal 150s have one shot two really nice whitetails and a moose.

Give the Ruger #1 in .303 a go. I bet you'll like it.

My P-H No.4 Supreme shoots so well with Federal Blue Box 180gr that I haven't bothered working up a load for it. I haven't shot any game with it yet, but inside 200yds I would be fine shooting anything up to elk.

Do you believe this is a General rule with these brands?
reason i ask..
my wsm would flatten Win S/x primers but the Rem C/l doesnt flatten em an i think is a fps slower..
