Anyone up to recommend cheap optics for .22lr plinking? Don't want to pay too much as all it really has to do is be minute of popcan. I am interested in pretty much anything as I did not really choose between scope vs. red dot vs. holo etc....

Have been thinking about airsoft look-alikes, any good or bad experience? Any brands/shops to buy from/avoid??

look at fitco doesn't get cheaper

x2 on fitco, you can get them for like ~$25-$30 a piece for scopes and red dots, but remember you get what you pay for

...fitco...but remember you get what you pay for

Ain't that the truth... never dealing with fitco again. Purchased a scope on eBay (Canadian local) and decided to return it cause it was just TOO cheap (quality) for me. They didn't even honour their own return policy properly.

Spend the $89-$129 and get a Bushnell Banner or Vortex Crossfire. Don't be über cheap.

Not sure if links to other websites are allowed, so just google Dealextreme and select the first result. Go to Hobbies & Toys -> Gun supplies.

Everything is shipped direct from China, all prices include shipping, no minimum (you can order a single item for $2 and it will be shipped free. I have ordered from them at least 20 times in the last 2 years, and never had a problem. Never been charged any extra duty/taxes (all my orders were under $200). The mark the packages as a "Gift" for customs.

Quality can sometimes be questionable, so read the reviews before you buy, but the prices can't be beat!

Just be prepared to wait 3-6 weeks for it to arrive.

For that $$ range, get a Bushnell trophy. In my mind, they are a very good scope for the $$, and often available on EE in the $100-$120 range

I have a Tasco 2x7 Rimfire ($70) on my 10-22 and a Bushnell Banner 1.5x5 ($90) on my BL22. Both are great scopes for plinking and will definately do better than minute of pop can. The Tasco even came with dovetail rings. Both were purchased at the local Walmart.

Agree with the Bushnell Banner option. It's really not that expensive and it is worlds ahead of all the cheap scopes beneath it. Had a friend with a tasco 6-24x50 (I think) and my 4-12x40 banner was easier to see the target with.

this, just grabbed a brand new 3-9x40 crossbones off the ee for the gf for$120. great optic for the money. and also mentioned in another post better to spend x amount of dollars on a quality name used optic then a lesser quality new optic. if your getting all these options like AO or SF adjustable objectives, ridiculous amounts of magnification and super large objective lenses with illuminated reticles for $150 it has to tell you something about the quality.

companys like Hawke and Vortex do make some great scopes for the dollar aswell and can easily be had in the $150 range, maybe a little more.

One of my older .22's came with an old Tasco 2-7x15 "tube". Apparently it's lasted for years and still lets me put 10 rounds into a spot the size of a twoonie at 50 yards.

A BSA Sweet .22 is another option. They are cheap but then there's precious little kick from a .22. The one on my old Cooey 600 has lasted for a couple of hundred rounds with no issue.
