Third day after break-in...looks like load development is near done...time to do some shooting. Five shot groups @ 100M.

Hey Jec what pills are you using in your 30. I'am using 128 chism's which work awesome as well. But I'am getting down on my bullets and need some good replacement ideas. Thanks Greg

In this barrel, I have just tried the 115 Berger FB, jambed .013 ... 33.6gr H4198, CCI-BR4 primers. The other barrel I have likes the 110 Bergers best with 33.8grs H4198. I shot over a hundred groups with 110 / 115 /125 Bergers that gave me a 0.3" agg. Velocity on the 115's was 2960.

I have a 30BR reamer that I haven't gotten around to using yet. I bought a Savage Precision Carbine on a whim and was gonna convert that but the OEM rifle shoots so well I decided to leave it alone for the time being.

I really like the idea of the 30BR. Interestingly your velocities are not a lot less than my 308 shooting 125 gr bullets and the 308 is burning a whole lot more powder in the process.

Keep in mind that OP looks to have a fairly long barrel on that rifle and your 308 PC has only 20" of tube.

The 2960fps is with 115 BERGERS using 33.8gr 4198 out of a 24" barrel. I had the new barrel cut to 22" as reports from 30BR shooters say there is little advantage to a longer barrel...and little difference between velocities from 21 - 24" barrels. The efficiency is achieved because of the favorable capacity/bore ratio. Powder gets burned pretty quick...and it uses a much faster powder than the 308. The early 30BR guys are saying their barrels are still competative after 7000 rounds.

Check the write-up in 6mmbr...one guy there reports 3050fps from a 112gr BIB pushed by 34.7 gr H4198. Pretty efficient. I had my reamer made with "0" freebore.
