8mm-06

I have since sold my 8mm/06, but hunted with it a couple of years.
It is an exce3llent chambering that will drive a 200 grain bullet to around 2750 fps.
I shot a fairly good size Black Bear with a 200 Accubond....complete passthrough.
One muley buck with the 180 Ballistic Tip.
220 yards, bullet exited on a nearly broadside double lung shot. Deer DRT.
IMR 4350 is your friend.
Regards, Eagleye.

Hey Eagleye, remember when the 8mm-06 was nearly as popular as the 303 because of the number of surplus rifles but no ammo. Everybody and his dog had a 98 in 8mm-06 or 8mm-308 NM, if they reloaded. You could buy the surplus Mausers for about 29 bucks, I bought a VZ24 for 20 bucks minus the stock and it was unfired. Built a 257 Wby on that action.

Remember that well, my friend. My 8mm-06 was on a VZ-24 action. About as good as it gets. I remember buying one surplus 8mm for $24.95, and it had a pristine bore. Outside was a bit rougher, but it was a shooter.
Eagleye.
