It should be noted that bullet weights in excess of 170 grain, especially in commercial spec loads for .308 Winchester (as opposed to loads in 7.62 NATO spec) are pretty rough on the M14 type guns.
Thanks for the replies. I had heard that 180s were sort of as far as I could go, so I slipped er on to single shot to avoid the hefty kick up the arse. Just wanted to see for myself, and with those results I can scratch 180s off the list, got some real nice brass out of it tho. Getting back to my earler question are there any commercially available 165/168 rounds, or are they all handloads.
Meantime I have my new Archahngel stock all fitted up and a couple of cases of 150's , the suns shining....I can hear the range calling to me
