I plan on a new shotgun in the next few weeks, I've got my 870 sold, and I want something cooler..

Just wondering if there's anyone who bought the 930 Tactical on here, and what you think of it..

I plan on purchasing it from Wanstalls.


Oh I could have searched this, but it literally is the most useless function on this forum/
 
I love my 930. I have an 870.

If you use the normal search function you have to change the search from 1 week to longer. Also you can search in the black and green shotgun sub forum and it will search the whole sub forum. You have to be in the sub forum and it's right under the page selection on the right. "Search this forum".
 
the 930 is an excellent gun in any configuration. i just love mine even tho i just posted it on the EE lol if you looking at a 930 and your thinking about the "tactical" think about it a little harder. if it just the look you want with the breacher barrel then by all means get, I agree it looks great. I passed on it for a regular 930 after handling my buddies "tactical" and finding how bothersome the sharp edges of the breacher where. the hook on everything, even taking it in and out of a bag was a pita

I have one too.

Its nothing fancy, and has some plastic parts, but its cheap, light and works well with everything I have fed it.

Its a great gun for the price.
 
Great semi-auto for the price. Very reliable and no problems with it so far.

Really wanted the M4 to be my semi, but just couldn't afford it at the time.

The 930 has an ok price point. The reason I say this is that it does not come with some features newer semis have such as a load out button.

I find this a handy feature when using the shotgun for IPSC and 3 gun events.

The LOP is 14" which is far too long when using a padded shooting vest and I cannot find an aftermarket that is 12". I prefer an adjustable stock BUT there are non hence I am currently modifying the original to 12.5"

I really HATE the cocking lever and am patiently waiting for an aftermarket one which is larger along with a larger safety switch. I always use gloves when I shoot so I like oversize knobs.

I cannot understand why Mossberg does not have a foregrip that has rails on it. I would like to place a flashlight and a magpul AFG grip but I will either need to again mod the foregrip by placing a rail under it or purchasing a $200 aftermarket foregrip instead.

The original foregrip has a rear edge that overhangs the forward edge of the receiver.
It tends to get in the way of loading during a timed event hence I will be squaring it off to reduce fumbled loading.

On the plus side for some shooters - you can ghost load.
On the other plus side Ive no FTFs or FTE with mostly no7 loads - round count is apprx 2600

My god Mossberg will put that Barrett style muzzle brake on anything won't they lol the shotgun at the top of the pic, is that an 870 with the rhino rail? I really like the look of that shotty

It ejects the 2 3/4 dram, 1 oz loads kinda feebly, but it still runs fine. I haven't found anything that it won't run yet, but I haven't tried the Wally World Winchester pack stuff, either.

I just step it up to a 3 dram, 1 1/8 oz load for matches to ensure solid performance.

Yea well the brake dosent work that well. BUT the price was right so I picked it up.

The rail and all that is from S&J Hardware.

They do good stuff.

Yes on the load out button - cannot be ghost loaded due to the double gate loading system that Hatsan uses.

It is located on the bottom right of the receiver.

Push once and rack slide to eject load - reload chamber, push the loading gate on the bottom to close the bolt forward - FIRE. Loading tube is locked out till you press the button again to release the shells from the tube.

With lots of practice and lots of scratches on the receiver you should be able to do this procedure in under 1.2sec

Kind of makes it a toss-up between the MPA and 930. Being able to GL is a bonus, but being able to easily swap in a different load is very important too.

Both 5rd tubes are for 3" shells, does either one fit an extra 2.75 like some do?

OK I am slowly changing things out on the 930.

Maybe some of you might change it to this look.

Anyhow the Aimpoint is REALLY nice on the 930. It lines up the barrel nice. AND I dont like Aimpoints cause its a dot only.

I will try this setup at a timed run and get back to you if it jells with my movement.

I FINALLY changed the extremely crappy stock cocking lever.

The one you now see is a Chocate. After doing dry reloading sequences to a 2 hour movie. My impression after my fingers got raw from the excessive handling was positive.

Because of the design I can go over the top with my weak hand and #### the bolt back EVEN with the Aimpoint on the top.


Anyhow heres some pics to illustrate the changes.
Still waiting for another Mossberg stock so I can cut it down for a 12.5" LOP.
Also waiting for a +3 tube for the front end.

Not sure if I should spend $200 for a railed forend or build a picatinny under the original forend so I can put a AFG on it.

Bought one from another CGNer who actually posted in this thread..
First impressions? I love it, brought it out back and killed 6 skeets with it, with me pulling the rope...

Honestly, I don't know why I didn't buy one first!
