Pellet trap.

Had a little time to kill at work today and an open cnc machine so I drew up and cut the parts to make a pellet trap. A few minutes over in the welding room and a couple coats of paint and it was ready to go. It's probably heavy enough to handle .22 rimfire but I just want it for shooting my pellet gun in the basement. Tried it when I got home and it works like a charm. :)

The main opening is 12" x 12" and the small hole in the bacl is 2" x 2".

Nice job. What a concept - free time and a CNC machine and a weld shop to play with.

Just a though. Do you have a baffle or angle in behind that little square opening in the back of the cone? You don't want a pellet to pass through the target, hit some flat metal, and bounce directly back to the shooter. I recall getting hit by a pellet out of a pellet rifle that hit a flat portion of a can I was using as a target, and came straight back 15 yards to hit my arm.

Other than that, it looks outstanding.

I cut a baffle to put in there to deflect the pellet downwards but forgot to weld it in place before putting the cap on the upright. I will be popping that cap off to weld it in place but for now I hang the target up high in the opening to avoid hitting the flat back.
