Hello Everyone!

Hoping for a bit of input on my issue here...

Picked up a nice new mossberg 930 with an 18" barrel a few days ago. Busted it down, cleaned it up and gave a light lubrication to the usual components.

Tried shooting it last night and got a frustrating result:

Load the mag tube, use the charging handle to cycle a round into the chamber, safety off, fire, extraction, ejection, feeds a new round into the chamber no problem... pull the trigger again... click. Nothing... doesn't even touch the primer. I can hear the hammer falling (I think that is what it is) but no dice on firing.

If i cycle the action again, dumping the unfired round and loading another manually, the next round fires no problem but the issue then repeats itself. This and the fact that the first chambered round always fires, leads me to believe that the problem is not the firing pin.

I double checked that the barrel is seated. Beyond that, i am not very familiar with this piece yet, or auto loaders generally, so I am all ears!

Oh... fyi... used a wide variety of ammo from a few different manufactures from 2.75" target load to 00 and 000 buck to 3" slugs, same prob every time.

Cheers for your input!

When you put the bolt back in, there is a long section which feeds into the trigger assembly that has a little hook on it. Make sure that has been seated properly into the trigger group. I did the same thing once after a good cleaning. If that's the issue it's a 2 min fix. It's hard to explain without being there to show you, I hope that made some sense. Unfortunately it's one of those things that looks right on the surface until you pull the trigger and nothing happens. check your manual for reassembly.. Go to YouTube and type in mossberg 930 assembly and numerous videos will come up and in thinking what I tried to explain will be covered. Good luck

I think i have an idea what you are referring to, will take a second look.

Try running at least 2-3 boxes of heavy game loads through it.

If not, remove the barrel from the gun and remove the gas lug from that. Check the gas holes and the system for carbon build up

If anyone encounter this issue with their 930...

When reassembling the shotgun you have to ensure that the link (rat tail looking thing sticking off the back of the bolt carrier) is seated in the return spring plunger (a little cup looking dealy at the back of the receiver).

That was my issue... essentially operator error.

Cheers!

Did you assemble all of the components on the magazine tube correctly? Especially the ones nearest the receiver?

Yeah no problem there, youtube and the manual are clear about that stuff. The issue was within the receiver and specifically that I failed to properly install the link between the bolt carrier and the return spring plunger.
