Well no, Im not really going to go fishing with my new sub2k. Just found an old Shakespeare Fishing Company rod bag that I had laying around and I thought I could use it as a nice little compact, discreet carrying case. Worked out pretty nice, holds the rifle, 2 x promag 10/32 mags, 1 x factory 10 glock mag and a glock 10/17 that didnt make the pic.

Would it be legal to transport in that case or would that be considered "concealment"?
Not too worried about, every rifle I've ever carried had been inside of a discreet soft case. Love my Voodoo tactical bags. I live in a condo so rifle shaped cases screaming look I'm carrying a rifle in the elevator isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Not to nitpick.... but the very nature of transporting a gun in a case can be considered "concealment"

To answer the question, no, it would just be considered transporting.

Okay then, I was under the impression that firearms had to be transported inside of a case that was intended to store a firearm. For example; being wrapped up in a blanket would be considered concealment. At least, that is what I remember reading here somewhere.

Yeah I don't blame you for being discreet. I was sure it had to be in a rifle case for transport though.

I don't think I will ever fully comprehend all the laws I am supposed to follow here. I'm getting contradictory information constantly.

It's actually a preference. I don't have rifle bags for all my long guns so when I come walking out of the house to go out, you should see the looks on the neighbours faces when I have a CZ858 in my hands walking to my Jeep in the driveway... I usually wrap in a towel to not draw attention that I'm in my yard with a gun.

To the OP, very nice... If you're going to go with a laptop case, what are you going to be doing with the Shakespeare case? :)

There is at least one court case/judges decision that would make that case, and your intentions "to be discreet" a crime, namely carrying a concealed weapon.

The way around it is never admitting to trying to be discreet, or hide the fact that you are carrying a gun.

The second you say you were attempting to fool people into thinking you weren't carrying a gun, is the second you have broken the law.
