Hollow point .50 ?

yeah remember that only pmc is coming in now nothing else at $65 for a box of 10 rounds because the US now has a export ban on anything .50bmg and even then what are you going to hunt with a .50

I think it might be interesting to see what it would do to a yottie. I have not had a chance to deer hunt although i wouldnt with a hollow point .50 but i see its pretty much .50 in and .50 out. That is purely unacceptable when wacking a coyote or random pest.

It doesnt do anything but punch a hole right through... you have to hit something pretty solid to get a benefit of a HP. I used HP on a deer... same thing... punched a hole right through... I didnt see a difference in the hole it made. BTW for hunting you need a HP or some expanding bullet to comply with the big game hunting regs. So FMJ is out.

just my 2 cents

Is that a Saskatchewan hunting reg? I'm asking because there is nothing in Ontario's hunting regs regarding bullet construction, only caliber restrictions. Not ethical, but FMJ is A-OK here in Ontario. I've heard locals wrongly say "your not allowed to use FMJ for hunting", etc.. I'm curious as to how many provinces actually require expanding bullets on big game.

You may be a little silly for wanting hollowpoint .50BMG, but you know what, why not! ;)

That said, the 13,500 ft. lbs. of energy from the standard FMJ will do whatever you need it to do. :)

Here in the Yukon we aren't even allowed to use FMJ for wolves or coyotes, must be expanding. I load Barnes 647 TSX BT in my 50, they shoot 1/2" at 200 mtrs and clock 3003 fps from my Oehler 35P. I think I may attempt to harvest a couple caribou with it this Oct.

the problem is you cant legaly export .50 bmg components from the US so even the tsx thats marked for the .50 bmg(the one you said above) can not be exported. you mite be able to export some of the stuff for other .50's like the .500 nitro express or something along thoughs lines but they have next to no B.C.

I have what you want. I gave a supplier a few hundred 50BMG A-Max bullets to coat with a black coating. he decided to wash them first in a mild acid. The acid ate away half of the aluminum nose plug that fills the hollow point.

How many do you want?
