Just bought an 870 Express... will it shoot 3" shells?

I just purchased a Rem 870 express from Epps that was advertised as 2 3/4" or 3" and the barrel says the same but cycling 3" shells is much more laboured then 2 3/4".... the receiver does not say magnum just express... is this receiver designed to shoot a 3" shell?

If it is an express receiver it is 3" and 2 3/4". Not all said magnum.Nothing a few hundred 3" rounds won't solve or with some a few 1000.

If 3" is stammped on the barrel then your good to go.

You are so right there. I have a choke tubed factory wingmaster here 2002?? maybe with a high gloss blued 3 1/2" barrel but it is only a 3" receiver.

Yes, it will safely fire 3 inch shells. WRT the difficulty cycling the 3 inch shells vs the 2.75 shells, my guess would be the issue is the type of shell... And remember, it's a pump, PUMP IT!!!
