Need A Receipe - 30-06 with 220 Grain RN Bullet

Hey Darryl, it will be interesting to see what results you will get, hope to hear back soon. I'm also hoping that I have the time to load and get out to the range to try some new 220 grainer's with heavier powder loads. Will post also.

Live At The Range Report:

Just got a 3-shot 1" group with 60.5 grains of powder. Best group so far w/H4831 and Sierra 220 gn RN bullets.

I got the best velocity from IMR7828 and the best accuracy from IMR4350.

You are on your way! Nothing wrong with that at all.

Were you able to determine the velocity?

After 60.5 grains, the groups all went to hell. The spreads just kept getting wider all the way up to 63 grains of H4831. So I'll need to move up and down from 60.5 and see what happens in 0.1 gr increments.

I think in the long run and looking back on this experiment I will focus on 168 and 180 grain bullets. The short term results have proved much better than the heavier bullet.

It's probably the twist rate. 1:10 is probably the best all around for 150 to 180gr, higher then that you might need a 1:8 for the best accuracy.
