Looking to thin out the herd and get one left handed 6.5x55. I looking at both guns and was wondering if anyone has any opinions on either. Tikka has been spoken about alot but can not find alot of information on the Zastava Commerical M98 (M70). Anyone have any opinions on this gun. If you were in my shoes which 6.5x55 would you look at purchasing. I like the Tikka reliabilty. I looking at probably shooting 160 Woodleigh`s and maybe 129 Hornady SST in the one gun I purchase.

My choice of this calibre is the need to depend on one gun for everything from coyote, bear, moose and deer. In Southern Ontario the 264 can be used for yotes. Also looking into reloading. Have the dies, woodleigh`s just need the reloading equipment

Thanks,

The Zastava M70 is a 7.62mm assault rifle developed in Yugoslavia by Zastava Arms. The M70 was designed on the basis of the AKM and became the standard issue assault rifle in the Yugoslav People's Army in 1970. The M70 is an air-cooled, magazine-fed, selective fire rifle. It is informally referred to as the Yugo M70 or Yugo AK.

I have lots of them here in Afghanistan, they are great.

M70 & lk m70

There is a M70 as a YUGO version of AK47

But there is also a M70 (LK M70) as a sporter bolt action rifle based on Mauser M98 action. Action is somewhat refined as compared to military and referred to as a Commercial Mauser Action.

The YUGO version of German 98K was M48 that served as a starting point in creation of M70 bolt action rifle. Nothing to do with AK in this case.

Action is controlled feed with rotating Mauser extractor, hinged floor plate...

Version marketed under name LK M85 lacks Mauser extractor.

Tikka T3 and Zastava LK M70 as as different as two bolt action guns can get. Nothing wrong with either - just user's preference.

Just my $0.02

Maybe it's just me, but if given a choice I'll always take the Mauser claw extractor and fixed blade ejector on a hunting rifle. My only knock on the Zastava Mausers is that I would prefer a bolt mounted safety.
