Anyone have any idea where i can source an M&P 9mm barrel? I have the .40 and apparently the 9mm OEM drops right in and away you go.

Somehow I doubt that. Not only will you have to use 40S&W mags, the extractor is likely to be problematic.

There have been various aftermarket products of similar nature(eg Barsto 9mm barrell for a P226) that are 'drop-in' but often lead to extraction issues, especially in any form of rapid-fire.

9mm will work with the .40 mags, but i was going to get a few 9mm mags anyway. There are many accounts of guys dropping in the 9mm OEM barrel without issue.

Entirely untrue. The mags are identical except for the feed lip spacing, and while you theoretically could use .40 mags I have found 9 mags to work far better. WRT the extractor, the factory part number for 9/40/357 extractor is the same...

I'm better than 10K into 9 out of my MP40 without issue of any kind.

Hence, the mags are not the same. Similar to any pistol frame with multiple calibers offered, the body of the mag is the same dimensions, but the feed lips and possibly followers are different.

Edit: I noticed where some confusion came from. I meant to write in my original comment that it would be better if he used 9mm mags rather than simply drop in a 9mm barrel and use 40S&W mags he currently has.

The extractor part number being the same, that is good to hear. Are the slide dimensions the same? Even if the extractor itself is the same part, the distance from center may be different between a 9mm and 40 slide.

Since you have already done the swap, I assume it is all inconsequential and good to go.

Since you have already done the swap, 3. I assume it is all inconsequential and good to go.

1. It's all about communications...:D

2. Identical - at least I can find no variation in dimensions;

3. So far, so good...:cool:
