Any MAS 36 rifles collectors out there?

I have bought and sold many Post-WW2 MAS36 or MAS36/51 in Canada over the last 25 years, but I only ever found one wartime Mas 36 (dated May 1940) and the bolt was mismatched on that one.

I sold mine recently to fund the purchase of a holy grail for my collection, but it was a postwar gun that I'd always intended to replace with a wartime model. I find they're pretty neat little guns with a lot of clever, outside the box thinking. I like them!

I have one 36 and two minty 36/51s.
One of the 36/51s has been bored out to shoot 30-284, which uses the same data as 30-06 for reloading.
The information can be found on Shooters Forum to name one site.

I've heard of those conversions and they must have been in response to a past difficulty in finding 7.5 MAS brass. I suppose if someone wanted to shoot it, they'd ream it out, buy custom dies, and size 284 brass to 30-284. Presto, back in service.

As for the 30-284 "Wildcat" - compare it to the 100+ year old 7.5X55. ;)

It is not really the difficulty of geting 7.5, as I have been able to purchase some. It is about the French laws that do not permit military calibers to be possessed by individuals. So, you can find various military firearms in 7-08, 30-284, 9x21 (pistols) etc.. in France. MInd you, there are many military firearms from WWII and I, hidden in many a farmhouse or house, there. I have seen some interesting collections!
