Hi guys,

My grandfather recently passed down to me his dads 1917 artillery luger. I had to fully stripped at a local shop and cleaned etc. Here are some pics of it. Anyone have a ballpark idea of what this things worth? I also have the wood buttstock and the holster as well as the cleaning rod. Its got all original matching serial numbers (except for magazine)

Depends on the condition ie bore, functionality, rust etc It can go for $2500 easily.

bore is in great condition according to local gunsmith.

He did a complete over view of the gun and said there was a small amount of rust but he got rid of it.. the only thing they didnt give me was an estimated value

i shot it today actually and it works perfectly, except the action doesnt stay open on the final round. Thats the only issue.

It has to be worth more as an original restricted status Luger rather that a prohib that has been re-barreled.
For insurance purposes you should have an appraiser look it over and give you a value.

2500 sounds right the last one i bought had the paddle and holster all numbers matching was around 3300.Check the mag if it is numbers matching as well that will help the price a bit

Also for anyone that cares, the story attatched to it is that my great grandfather picked it up during WW1. He was a Sgt. in the British artillery regiment and brought it back to Canada to teach my grandfather how to shoot with.

Looks awesome !! I have a 1921 non-matching without stock/holster...
You should post up a pic with the rest of the gear.
If only you had a snail drum to go along with it ;-)

I was so happy to see you weren't interested in selling this.
I've heard about so many peoiple selling handed down guns only
to be saddened by the lost connection to their family's past.
Beautiful gun, good condition, usually goes for $2500-$3000, by the photos I'd value it at $3000. Keep it oiled.
