Canadian Tire here in Belleville just received 6 Mosin Nagant Sniper rifles this Friday! All dated 1943 and scope is included, price is set at $600. How do i know these are the real deal, reading a lot about fakes on the market. Have one currently on hold but need some help putting my mind at ease. Anything i should really concentrate on when looking these over? Sorry for all the questions but I'm somewhat new to firearms and have a real interest in the military aspect of things! Thanks.

I will give you somes hints, depend if they are Tula or Ishevsk manufacture. Tula have a star stamped on receiver and Tula sniper are "CH" marked, mean that the rifle was approved by the factory for sniping use. Ishevsk rifle have a triangle with an arrow in it and on the left side of the bore, were the chamber is, should be a number stamped or electropenciled. That number should be the same as the number of the scope. On the scope turrets, the screw must have round heads, not flat. The scope may not be the same year of the rifle and its normal, thoses snipers were reworked at some times. Hope that help.

Was looking at those same rifles at CT in Belleville today too. They only have 2 left. The one I handled, from my memory, I'm sure was a Tula, didnt see a CH though, might not have been looking hard enough. I know for a fact though it had flat screw heads on the turret mounts not rounded. The scope and rifle are original period items however it is most likely a post war (1960s possibly) arsenal refurbished as most of these rifles that come into Canada now a days are.

Finding a genuine WW2 sniper mosin nagant is near impossible to find now, especially in Canada. If you do find one expect to pay well over a $1000. I can assure you these arent fakes but theyre as original as you will find here, good for shooting and ammo is relatively cheap. $600 is a little pricey for me but to be expected at retail. Could probably pick one up on EE or somewhere else for $300-400.

Without pics its hard to tell but flat screws are not correct on original PU or SVT scope. $600 is not bad if they are real snipers, i paid $650 for mine and i'm really happy with. Not going to find thoses at $400 with original parts even for a refurb sniper.

Thanks for all the help boys and as of next Tuesday this little gem is coming home with me! Find it amazing you can actually buy the same setup these soldiers used! $600 is pricey for sure but you only live once so screw it! Lol. Thanks again lads!

You cant set a price on something youre passionate about thats for sure! For me its mausers, ive dropped more than a few grand on my current collection. Wish I could get a decent shape original sniper K98 for $600...maybe if i had a time machine?

Well if you ever come too the Lower Trent Valley gun range bring some of those Mausers out! Heading out tomorrow with over a 100 rounds of 12 gauge, should be fun!

Haha funny you mention that...I'm actually heading there during the day on Monday with a friend whos a member. Looking into joining the club so I can go on my own and make use of the indoor range in the winter :D

300-400 on the EE?

The same EE where SKS's in Tapco stocks are priced at 500 bucks?
Where surplus ammo goes for 25 bucks over what you can get it from the vendors? Where people want to trade you their mosin for an AR rifle?
The same EE where people want 70 dollars MORE than they actually paid for their repro mosin sniper that has a defective mount installed?? (true story).

No sir. You can not get a mosin sniper rifle for 300-400 dollars.

(sarcasm in good humour).

I paid a bit more than 650 for mine with shipping and taxes but I think its a great deal. The original scopes and mounts are very hard to find and the fact they are refurbed means they are in better shape than what we have been able to find recently and should last longer. If money wasn't so tight right now I would have ordered a couple and I just hope they stick around long enough for that to happen.

What is the deal with CT selling milsurps? Surely must be a special circumstnace with the Belleville store.... if I walked into any of the 6 CT stores I know asking about surplus sniper rifles I would get some strange looks for sure.

I get your point haha 90% of the stuff on there is way over priced but sometimes you find someone whose not right out of er and selling for a reasonable price to get rid of it faster.

Heres the link for the $440 sniper mosin: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=785387

The CTC in Belleville has been getting in crates of mosins and sks for years. I talked to the guy there and he said they keep getting them cause they sell so fast. This is the first time ive seen sniper mosins though

That sniper on the EE is probably a repro, the scope look like a repro, wish the seller put close up pics. $440 is ok for a repro, would be awesome price for a real one but nobody that know a bit on milsurp would let go a genuine sniper with original optic for $400 even refurbed one unless they need to sell very very bad.
