I need some help from seasoned pistol shooters as I'm having a problem with my new CZ SP-01 Shadow and I don't think its the gun since my wife, daughter, son in-law and friends have fired it without the problem I'm having. I have experience shooting 1911's and a few revolvers without issues but have a problem with double firing on occasion. It happened to me 5 times today in about 60 rounds. I pull the trigger and end up with a 2 shot burst as if is fully auto. I've tried to follow through with the trigger pull to the end of its travel but it still seemed to happen. Advice, experience, anyone?:confused:
Thanks

sounds like a gun issue "did you do trigger work on it?"

Also check if your firing pin safety and firing pin spring are working.

The gun had a trigger job done at CZ custom as all Shadows have before they leave the factory. The round count through that gun is now about 250, I'm just puzzled why it only seems to happen to me when I shoot it.

also if it has a ajustable trigger stop, see if it is loose "might be making your reset too short.

It should be good to go from the factory, but sometimes things get missed

I did the same thing with the first and last CZ 9mm I fired...nice gun but a way weird trigger. I found that if you're not off the trigger as soon as it fires, the recoil (9mm remember ) causes the trigger reset and bang, another round.

(flamesuit on) CZ are well made guns and those that like them actually love them but I went with a Glock 17 gen 4 and never looked back. Guns going off when you don't intend them to scare the sh1t out of me truth be told.

Thanks for the help, I just got off the CZ website and asked for assistance and left an explanation of what its doing. Since its less than a month old and has a 3 year warranty I think its best if I don't mess with it myself for now. I've already taken it down once and thoroughly cleaned it thinking dirt was the culprit but evidently not. Darn thing is scary like that as I didn't anticipate buying a machine pistol:ar15:
Thanks again.

I did this with my shadow the first time out. Such a short, light trigger; I bump fired a double tap. Now I make sure to do a nice positive squeeze of the trigger until the gun is done recoiling and I get sights back on target. Then I let it reset and go again.

I sure won't flame you, my wife shot the Shadow today for the first time and her first 3 rounds were overlapping holes in the bulls eyes at 15m. You'd think she would love it but she wants a G17 as well before the end of this week:redface:
