Looking for suggestions for a replacement rear (would like windage & elevation adjustable) sight for a flattop ar15 rifle.
I would consider changing out the front (gas block mounted )sight as well.
any suggestions as to what my options are?
any help opinions appreciated! thanks, wj

My preference would be Troy Industries Battle Sights but seem to be hard to find. Had one source that said they had in stock but he took over 2wks to reply back so that raised too many hairs on my neck to do business with. I went with Midwest Industries SPLP instead but no elevation adjustment on it so may not be what you're looking for.

Isn't elevation adjusted by the front sight anyway?

I've got the DD A1.5 if you are looking for a fixed sight it's worth looking into for sure.

Are you looking for a back-up sight or are you shooting irons?

If you you are shooting irons I would even go with an AR carry handle. It has 2 apertures, windage adjustment, elevation adjustment and the most important part.. the carry handle!

If you just need a back up I like the gen2 Magpul BUIS. It has windage adjustment but no elevation, which is just fine since its on a 14.5inch carbine and I dont have any interest in using a back-up sight for reaching out past 200 meters, I can barely see to 100 meters through the tiny aperture.

The DD and Midwest industries listed by the others are both excellent as well. Its hard to find a back-up with both windage and elevation.

Elevation is adjusted in the front sight only.

Are you using irons only? If not, what kind of optic are you using. All of this can be a factor as to which BUIS will work best for you.

No sir, you can further adjust windage or lateral Zero by adjusting the front sight post but elevation is done at the rear, either through a scope/red-dot/holographic etc or the rear iron sight. The AR carry handle for example usually has the large elevation wheel below the sight and the windage dial on the side.

Looks like we're talking semantics here. When I think of elevation adjustment it's in terms of adjusting zero, not range. Very few back up iron sights can adjust for range, most you get is the normal A2 0-2 hundred aperture and then the small aperture used for 300. Hell, most sights these days make a big deal about being in the same plane, so changing apertures will not adjust for range.

The LMT fixed sight has both windage and elevation. It is basically the same as the carry handle sight with out the handle.

DPMS rear sight.
Same sight as a A2 carry handle, minus the carry handle.
I use this on my iron sight AR and it works great for me.
