Mauser 8x57I

Hi, would you know if this ammo is available in Canada, or do you have to re-load? That may be a problem as well with getting .318 bullets?

If your interested in reloading you can make 30-06 brass into 8mm.
So i hear.

I shoot an 8x57 Rifle, and I can safely drive the 180 grain Ballistic Tip to 2750,
or the 200 Accubond or Partition to 2600.
This makes the 8x57 a very effective firearm, indeed.
I have taken two moose and a large Black Bear with it, and none went
more than 20 yards after the hit.
I was unable to recover any bullets, since all were passthroughs.
I am very happy with my 8x57.
FWIW, Try Vihtavuori N550 or the new Reloder 17 for best performance
up to 200 grains.
If you must use factory ammo, the European offerings are best.

Hi eagleye, thanks for info, I think loading is the way to go. FYI I have a Turk Mauser (K98) except for the Turk wood and an 1896 Spanish Mauser Carbine that was sportorised. I have since learned from Remington (Got some Circa 1960 Rem 8x57 Mauser with the rifle) that the ammo is .323 so I'm Ok with the loads you can buy. I understand that the NA loads are lighter than Euro so was going to stick with them for the Spanish. The Turk likes the S&B 196 gr just fine. What kind of a 8mm do you have?

I Have 2 at present, One is a M700 Remington "Classic.
The other is a VZ24 Mauser.
The VZ 24 gets slightly lower velocities than the M700
But it also has a very long throat.
Accuracy is good with the VZ24, Excellent with the 700.

Lever arms has one of the best prices on surp 7.92x57 that i found but i bought PPU 500 rounds for $500 and its boxer primed and good brass. I dont reload but i will so i keep the brass.
