Ok, not really chores.;)

I get to play with some new toys. Thankfully it's a long weekend cause I got 3 days of *uhhumm* work to do.

First up is my new Sightron SIIISS 10-50x60LRMD from Jerry at Mystic, along with a EGW 20moa and Burris ZEE rings. These are sitting on my .223 with the AICS. I've had the scope for a week and haven't had a chance to really even look at it. I think it's a nice step up from my Bushnell. I'll sight in on Sat, then go to another spot on Sun for some distance.:D

Next up is my new Rem700 5r, .308 I've run 100 rounds through it with the factory stock, using factory ammo, then found a B&C A5 in the EE and bought it on impulse. I'm really impessed with it. I moved my Bushnell 6500 4.5-30x50 also with Z's from the .223 to this gun. I'll be sighting in and load testing on Sat, so I can roll some more and go back out to play on Sun.

Finally, my new Kestrel 2500. I ordered it direct from Kestrel for $178 to my door. I regret not buying the 4500, so maybe I'll sell it in the EE for $250:p sound about right? Now I'll know wind speed, but I have a question; What do I do with that info?

A huge thanks to Jerry, again. I enjoy spending money with you.
Thanks also to Wanstalls for the rifle and the Nosler brass;) and thank you to fellow nut arcstarter, for the stock.

I'll be spending Monday looking for a new spot, something I heard about last week.

I'll post one picture, and I know it sucks. Better ones will follow.

Enjoy your weekend.

Great looking pair, and if you have an Iphone or Android phone you should get a decent ballistics program and you can enter in all the variables from your Kestrel and it will get you on paper quicker at longer distances.

Ok, so some plans got changed. I went out Sat afternoon, got both scopes sighted in, but it was way too hot to hang out and shoot. It was 35deg in the shade so I spent Sun at home sick. I went back out at 7am today and played for a couple hours.

This is a little better pic than the first. My new scope in front, and my new 5r in back. I was shooting at a couple gongs, 1 at 630 yards, and 1 at 900. I was on target first shot, with both guns, at 630 but 900 was a little harder. Thats not saying a lot because the gongs are huge.:p 16".

This is the best picture I could get of the 630 gong. It through the Busnell at 30X. I know I should have used the Sightron, being new and all, but whatever...

And finally, I wanted to add this pic, I find it very peaceful. :D I thought we could use it to show Wendy and pals that shooting can give you a warm fuzzy feeling.:bigHug:

The 900 gong is just above and just left of the .308 muzzle. The little flash of white is a 4x8 sheet of plywood, the gong is to its left. The 630 is just below the tallest trees at the top of the cut, kind of between the rifles and up.

Thanks for the spot. I was just up there today and saw that ridge. I saw the white spots and immediatly wondered if thats where the gongs were. If I get into precision shooting, (still thinking about getting a rifle) i'll have to come back up there.

What were you driving? You shoulda stopped, or are you the guy on the quad that did?
Ya, it's a decent spot, but way too much garbage. You don't need a precision rig for the 630, it's a large gong with a nice backdrop to see your misses. You might need a spotter though. The .308 is all factory, other than the stock, and I haven't even bedded it yet.
No magnums please, it'll go through the gong;), and shhh, it's a secret. :D

And thanks all for the kind words. The spot ain't that good, full of garbage. I was very selective about where I took the pictures. I didn't have my rake today, and it was bad.

I was in a 2006 blue Ford Ranger, but we drove by around 1pm. You weren't there when we drove by but thanks for confirming my suspicion that I the "white spots" were targets on that burm.

Too bad that whole forest service road is such a gong show. It's too bad people litter so much. Any time a remote location gets decent vehical access, it just becomes a garbage dump or party ground.

If you guys want we should organize a cleanup day up there to haul out as much as #### as we can. I ALWAYS have a rake and some bags when I go out to shooting spots in the woods back there. Been a while and I need to get out there to practice some more

It is a pain but if users don't pitch in and clean it up, it will get so bad forestry will shut it down for everyone.
Jerry

I agree 100% Jerry. I carry a 5 gallon bucket and a couple rubbermaid bins, I've always got a shovel and usually carry a rake. If I bring it in, I bring it out. Always with extra, and lots of it. The Mission dump is on the way home and it's only $10. You have to be realistic and just pick a spot and clean it. Even a 10x10 square makes a difference.

Sylvester Rd will get shut down, I guarantee it. We're on borrowed time. RCMP want it closed because of stolen car dumping, and 33 (iirc) cabin owners, who pay tax, want it closed. If you go there right now, you'd be ashamed to be a shooter.

I believe BC offroad 'sponsors' a cleanup every year, and gunnutz are invited. But I'm all for going up there. Honestly, I'm too lazy to organize a clean up:redface: but I will show up with extra hands. I guarantee that too...:D

x2. I was up there two weeks ago for a quick quad ride. I got flagged down by a forestry worker at the first side road after unloading. He was blocked in with his pickup by a stolen car that had been dumped 2hours after he drove up the narrow road.

After helping the guy I kept driving further up. I hadn't been up there in a while, it's unbelievable:eek:. I can't understand how people can be so disrespectable and have no conscience:mad:. The gravel pitt used to be the worst part, now it's probably the cleanest. Every side road and cut blocks has plywood with targets nailed to every tree or stump in sight. There's mountains of shotgun shells, computer, monitors, TVs, 5gallon buckets, washer and every kind of garbage imaginable with holes in it. There even was a full size Pepsi vending machine all shot up.

Imagine people who are not in the shooting sport who go up there for a ride and see this mess. Now try to convince them that shooters are good, respectable people who should be given more liberties:redface:.
