I'm interested in getting a browning 12ga 3in A-5. How hard are parts to find?

I would want a full-length or extended buttstock and a barrel good for slugs or shot. I went online and couldn't find much.

Parts are rare and expensive. A special rifled slug barrel will set you back $400 or so, and nobody makes specialty stock for the gun. Only option is to butcher a factory original and install a longer recoil pad. Don't get me wrong, the Auto-5 is the best damn semi-auto shotgun unde the sun, but it ain't no 870.

Don't exclude the Remington and Savage made shotguns utilizing the Browning patent. You may find them a little cheaper and you won't feel so bad if you have to re-design one.

Problem is that you are less than half as likely (and that's being very generous) to find extra/spare parts. I know I have my stockpile of spare A5 internals and barrels, but I won't be parting with them any time soon.

The Browning Auto 5 was the first successful auto loading on the market. It was in production for almost one hundred years. The only reason it went out of productioon was the cost in producing the sold steel parts.

The Auto 5 will be going strong long after a lot of todays highly popular shotguns are long forgotten.

though certain parts are easy to find try finding barrels. When they do pop up they are priced quite high. I just picked up a A5 mag 12 JAP on EE. The barrel alone is worth a pretty penny but it will be a gift to my father inlaw to get him back into geese hunting after a 20 year hiatus.
