Looking for suggestions on good type of ammo for a Ruger sr-22 ...I was just looking at various online stores and there are some many different companies which sell .22 caliber ammunition.

I am thinking of purchasing: The Remington Eley Target .22 LR RIMFIRE ammo.
Decent price, positive reviews

I'm geussing that would be standard or low velocity ammo, your SR-22 may not like it reliability-wise. The SRs love most bulk ammo like cci blazer. High velocity and hyper velocity will cycle the action better especially before its broke in. Rimfires are notoriously picky with ammo, I would suggest buying a 50 rd box of every type you can find and decide what shoots the best and works the best in your rifle before buying bricks of ammo.

Surprisingly, I've had very good success with American eagle in both my 10/22s. Accuracy and reliability wise. CCI standard velocity, target rounds provided the best accuracy, but they are solid lead, round nose.

Thanks

But according to Ruger they said avoid using round(blunt) nosed bullets as they may jam the mechansim.

I think they also have them is hollow point which I think would be better, as its recommended by Ruger

RN's seem to work the best, I get more jams using hollow points.

Is your rifle new? I am going to assume your using the barrel that came with the rifle, I'd stick with the cheaper bulk ammo like AE or Bluebox Federal until your barrel is broken in (1000rds?). Just remember to clean the bore every 50rds.

Yeah its brand new...got it last week

Mine has shot hundreds of rounds of CCI Stingers, Blazers (lead round nose), Mini-Mags (hollow points and round nose) and Winchester 555 and 333 bulk boxes (hollow points) and honestly I am satisfied with all of them. Only had a few failure to fire in the Winchester stuff. It seems the SR22 will fire anything I have put through so far.

I have not found noticed any appreciable difference in accuracy at 50 to 75 yards with any of the ammo I have used.

Here's a couple targets I shot last summer at 25 and 50 yards. The top ones are the SR22 and the bottom is a CZ455. The center target (unmarked) was Ely target ammo.

I don't think I'd be buying Eley target ammo to shoot out of a SR-22.

I've had excellent luck with CCI RN mini mags and federal auto-match, so-so with win 555, and poor reliability with CCI standard.

HV RN ammo seems to be the way to go for feeding reliability.

Is the CCI RN MINI MAGS you using hollow or round tip ?

I just ran an entire box of Winchester 555 through mine, and didn't have a single issue. Used both the stock 10 rnd drum, and a butler creek steel lip (25rnd).

Shooting Diemaco's SR-22 today we learned it doesn't like American Eagle. But Likes Winchester Wildcat.
