Norinco 1911

I've got a TT Sport which comes with a full length guide rod, an ambi safety, and extended slide release and beavertail grip safety . Finished in hard chrome with a blue slide. I changed the springs and pins and did some polishing and tweaking and it turned out to be a great gun for under $400

Does anyone have any experience, good or bad, with the Norinco 1911, 45 ACP?

Had a Norinco 1911A1 years back (bought it at a garage sale shortly after moving from New York to Alaska), and in a moment of weakness traded it at our local gun shop - one of those "it semed like a great idea at the time" events. I soon realized it was one of the dumbest moves I've ever made. Recently spotted another at the same gun shop, ran home to gather up some trade goods, and it now roosts in my safe. I own five 1911A1s, and can say without hesitation the Norinco is made to perfect tolerances, and and has the finest action of any out-of-the-box 11A1 I've ever handled - and in 38 years as a licensed gunsmith back in NY I'd handled quite a few. If you have the opportunity to purchase a Norinco M1911A1, be it new or in good used condition, go for it. You won't regret it.

Well I don't know what other 1911s he owns but I would have to say that although the Norincos are great bang for the buck , they don't come anywhere close to a Sig or even a Ruger SR1911 . And I own all of them. As I posted earlier , they are great guns for the money and I would not hesitate to get another if that was all my budget allowed.

I had one. It was ok for the price, but i wanted Another high end 1911 quickly..... Good gun if you are on budget, but if you have more $$$ avalaible, i would personally go with Remington R1 or ruger sr1911 (only 300$ more).

While i have a Nork 1911 now and enjoy shooting it, I plan on upgradeing to a Ruger or Springfield Armouries 1911 in the future and will keep the Norinco for my Son and his friends to shoot.

bought an all blued one with a buddy at first (his gun technically as he had it in his name) then he just bought it off me when i ordered my two tone + 1000rds deal recently, just waiting for the mail to get here as i was waiting on ltatt approval first, what a relief that was to get finished lol.

My first 1911A1 was an Ithaca - made in the same year and same state (NY) that I was. It still roosts in my safe, but after being carried and used for nearly 40 years it's pretty much on the honorably retired list. My other 11A1s are a Colt MkIV Series 70 Government Model, Springfield Armory GI Spec M1911A1, Remington 1911R1, and of course the recently acquired Norinco. To be perfectly honest, I've never had the opportunity to handle the Sig or Ruger, but based on my experiences with products of both firms I've no doubt they're first rate pistols in every respect.

The Norinco is an awesome pistol, especially for the price!!!

For $359, you get a 1911A1 pistol that's just like the ones the US military carried since 1924. For another couple hundred, you can have it tuned by Gunnar at Armco and you will have a pistol that rivals something costing in the 700-800 range.

I love mine!!!

I was considering buying another .45 by Springfield (the Range Officer model) but then I realized that the only real difference between my tuned Norc and the Springfield is the adjustable rear sight (and if you really want one for a Norc, any half-decent gunsmith can install one), which I don't really need.

I have two, good gun. Many people compare their fit finish with other expensive 1911, for me it is not wise because good fit and finish WILL not made the gun cycle better, only can made the gun sell more money. Anyway what more you can ask for a $300 gun, as long as point and shoot, who care? further more their finish is not bad and good quality steel.
