Hey guys, quick question for ya.
I just got my Blackfeather stock in the mail(just awesome BTW) and I would really like to put a railed hand-guard on it. The only ones I have found are the UTG tri-rail, the Ultimak M8, and the Vltor rail. I have heard that the ultimak rail will not work, which is the one I really wanted to use. Will any top rail work with the blackfeather system? Or is it a case of any one of them would work with a little "fitting and imagination"?

blueoval - does it look like the blackfeather handguard could be drilled/tapped for a rail? I'm surprised M14.ca hasn't provided threaded holes for side and topmount rails!

I'm pretty sure M14.ca is working on a railed hand guard for their stock, not sure when it will be ready though

Hey I just got my blackfeather and have to agree that its a beauty. Just did the initial test fit its a match made in heaven. I'm using the UTG tri-rail and with slight modification should work very well with the blackfeather Oprod guide. Basically u just need to file down an aluminum buttress the rests against the normal Oprod guide to accommodate the blackfeathers thicker guide. Also the finish on the UTG rail matches the blackfeather exactly...I'll post some pictures when I'm done the build.

The BF system does not come with an upper handguard. The stock does have slots for rails on both sides and the bottom though.

Ahhh....thanks for that. I misunderstood their site and thought it came with an upper HG. Haha I wondered why they looked like the factory ones...f:P:

Thanks a bunch, I think I'll go with the UTG as well. Now, the question is, where do I get one? I did a search on google and a whole bunch came up through amazon. Have any of you guys bought gun stuff from amazon?

Well It's almost impossible to get amazon to sell you anything that goes on a gun. You can try the EE but I just checked for you and it seems that OPSGEAR.com down in the states has them on sale for only $49. If you check it says right on their website that they ship worldwide. I'm probably going to order another one myself if they let me for another build.

Is it just me or won't the utg tri rail look kinda odd on the bf stock considering it already has rails on the side. I could be wrong though. Maybe I'm just having a hard time picturing it.

Here are some pics of the build in process with the UTG tri rail...I think it looks pretty badass. Also the more I look at things the more it looks like it will go on with minimal modification but I won't know for sure until i really get into the nitty gritty of the install. Also the rails on the side of the BF aren't part of the stock...they are an optional install.

Fenix,
I also like the scout mount location because it encourages a BOTH EYES OPEN style of shooting that leaves to aware of things aside your normal tunnel vision.

I mounted my ACOG clone [ no eye relief issues at all ] right at the front of one of my M14 shorties, and loved it as much as I could a red dot type/ battery required type of optic.

But realistically, when it comes to non-battery powered optics, you will find dozens of regular eye relief scopes available for every long relief scout scope out there ... especially if you are a cheap badtard like my self, who usually buys his scopes USED!!.

Yep,
I guess to each there own but I don't know if this will work for me.
I really like how the inventor reffers to the Bushnell red dot sight as an ACOG "Clone".
LOL!!!

Looks good

Ok I retract my statement it looks pretty good. Keep us posted with the install and how it goes.

Yes, I have the UTG Tri-rail and it does look good. I chose not to put any extra rails on it as the BF comes with enough. Those extra rails add a fair bit of weight. They also come with rubber covers for the rails but I think they look cheap and again add unnecessary weight.

Got mine from opsgear with no hassle.
