So, after a few years of skulking around on here, wanting a black rifle, I have finally started to acquire parts for my first AR and Build.

I wanted to build one for the first one since I enjoy putting things together, and this will allow me to space out the cost over a period of time and learn how the rifle works all at the same time.

However, I am wondering if I had a full grasp of the components needed to to a complete build.

My goal is to put together a simple, "A2" style 20" rifle.

So far, for components I know I need:

Lower half:
-Lower receiver
-Lower parts kit
-Butt stock assembly, including buffer tube and spring. Both Questar and Wolverine have A2 kits available.

Upper Half:
-Upper receiver assembly (Including ejector cover and fwd assist)
-Bolt carrier group (Carrier and bolt)
-Charging Handle
-20" barrel
-delta ring
-Front sight post/gas block (Including pin)
-rifle length gas tube (Including pin)
-Rifle hand guards
-front hand guard ring
-flash hider (including lock/crush washer)

So, as far as I can tell, these are the components I will need. Did I miss anything?

Barrel nut to keep it from falling off your rifle :D

But seriously watch the Brownells "how to build an ar15 video" really helped me out with my first build.

1000 posts muahhahahahaha and yeah the lock ringy thingy for the springy dingy

1000 posts, someone get that man a goat!

Back O/T, the Brownell's videos are well detailed. I have an Armalite lower and Stag lower parts kit to assemble, I just need a couple of tools first. Good on you for taking the task on, make sure to post some pics!

Assuming you are looking for a carry handle A2 upper, I would assume it comes with the rear sight assembly… but yeah… make sure you have a rear sight…

As a side note, when I did my build I almost forgot about the charging handle also…

OK, so got my lower and LPK and installed as far as I can (Need Butstock to finish) but I have a few concerns.

When I installed the trigger guard, I notices a few metal shavings from what looks likie one of the pin holes on the receiver, also, when I try to pivot the trigger guard, it does not line up with the forward lips.

I did support the trigger guard lips when I drove the roll pin in.

What did I screw up on?

Also, apart from the trigger guard, and one or to blemishes from driving in the bolt catch pin, (the brownells special punch does not work as advertised) everything went nicely and the trigger, hammer, disconnecter is all working as it should.

EDIT: took the guard off and found out the scraping was from the actual trigger guard itself, not the receiver. holes must have been slightly off when the pin was driven in. Still wondering why its slightly off though.
