Hey guys,
Just bought an ACR enhanced restricted version and kept looking for a gunsmith who could put a non-restricted barrel on it. I'm sure anyone who owns or is looking to own an ACR non-restricted has seen the thread "ACR barrel blues" and knows that Questar barrels have been less than ideal. Questar also no longer sells these barrels (don't call them about it too, I received a very curt and somewhat angry response) so I kept looking for someone to fill the void.

I'm happy to say that there is a reliable gunsmith who can do the job!
If you contact Herron Arms (he asked me not to put down his email), the big boss Ian will take care of you. The prices are more than reasonable and let's face it...if you own a 3000 dollar AR like the ACR you should be able to afford a match-grade barrel. He has apparently already matched a few barrels and they have worked quite well. So for all of you complaining about not being able to get a decent barrel that's 1:7 instead of 1:9...this is the place to go!

you may have just cost me $3000 lol always wanted this one in the collection but hated the idea of a $3000 restricted.... or having to mail it out and swap barrels.... and now you find a source in my area lol g/f wont be happy lol good find

You won't regret it man, been super happy so far! Ian is a great guy and everyone seems to be pretty satisified. I will say one thing though; if you do get an ACR, try to get your supplier to also order the basic handguard. For some weird ass reason the restricted "Enhanced" version doesn't cover the gas tube and I find that really annoying. I'd post a pic of mine but I don't know how to do that on here...I'll give it a shot. But the ACR shoots great either way - it seems the people with problems are just the ones with the faulty barrel.

After the ACR becomes non-restricted (and this goes for any other rifle), does the record of the restricted status get deleted from the system? or do they somehow still keep all that info? I was always curious about that.

In my case I went from 16" to 12" so mine is still restricted but in the case of 16" to 18" NR barrel he will do the Verification and Reclassification for you.
It would be best to contact Herron Arms to discuss price as each barrel and need is different. Ian is a great guy and will talk with you about options. Keep in mind this is not a mass produced factory barrel he slaps on the gun, it is a high quality blank that he turns and fits to your ACR so the price reflects that.

Sounds like everyone here owns a ACR.... Anybody willing to part with one?

you can find one at The Shooting Edge, I saw one on display, they may have more, I don't know.

The Shooting Centre also has the display model left, I bought one from there the other day.

I believe they are all the restricted models.
