Found a gunsmith that does Non-restricted ACR Barrels!!

I don't really see why you would need to get another barrel to make it non restricted, what you have to do is get a Smith to make a longer brake, similiar to the Car15, make it so the total length is over 18.5" then solder the brake to the barrel.

Um, because unless the brake is an integral (re: manufactured) part of the barrel, it doesn't count. That includes welding, soldering, etc. Look it up.

You could have a barrel manufactured with a permanent flash hider to make it exactly 18.5 or 18.6" in length, and I believe Herron has done that for at least a Swiss Arms Carbine.

The civilian side of Remington is Bushmaster. And Remington doesn't make a polymer hand guard; they have two military-only versions (one which is similar to the civilian version).

I know that the civilian side of Remington is Bushmaster. Remington does make another hand guard that I have seen on rifles in the States and like better than the ACR polymer. Since he mentioned he had a "Remington" hand guard I got excited, especially when people on the forums usually say it is LE and military only.

Except neither of the two hand guars that Remington Defense offers with the ACR are polymer... so that should've been your first hint. ;)

What can I say, I was optimistic that Remington would finally cater and make some good stuff for the civilian ACRs and someone knew a lot more that I didn't lol. Turns out it was just a honest mistake. Aren't the ACRs all built by Remington now anyway?

Hey, I'm still optimistic we'll eventually see actual factory non-restricted barrel assemblies. Someday... maybe. I honestly couldn't say. I know they closed the Bushmaster plant down and moved (consolidated?) the ACR at a different production facility.

What I really want is an ACR2 with the new magnesium lower, folding charging handle and lightweight 10.5" barrel...

That would be amazing, but I know that the magnesium lower that came out was again only for Remington LE/Military (sigh :(...). Definitely new factory barrels would be more than welcome, and the folding charging handle would be a nice touch, but I guess we'll see.

On another note, barrel blank is about to arrive I'll let you guys know how it turns out. In more exciting news, Herron has also informed me that they can make a 6.5 Grendel bolt and barrel :).

The emphasis, of course, is on *optimistic*... ;)

Well no pictures as of yet but Ian has told me the barrel is finished and function tested and so far all systems are go.
I have also decided to have the whole ACR Cerakote as well so I am excited to see what the finished product will look like. As soon as I have pictures I will get them posted.
