My case of Norinco 7.62x39mm Cartridges arrived today! It is 123 grain lead core FMJ in a steel case and it's non-corrosive. Thank you Canada Ammo!

I have been looking to get an SKS and have been researching the ammo I can use at my local range. They say no steel core. This clearly states lead core on the box, does that mean its range friendly?
I am very new to firearms so any info is appreciated.
Anyone else notice it smells like fresh corn when you crack the box open? Maybe its just me?
The bullets are lead core but is the jacket steel? Would this ammo be acceptable to shoot at steel targets?
