Value of minty WWII 30-06 Garand bandoleers

Hi,

I need some opinions on this.

I have the opportunity to buy a bunch of WWII Garand bandoleers. These are fresh out of the spam can, collectors grade stuff. Inside the bandoleers are 48 rounds loaded on enblocks.

Cost would be approx. $125 a bandoleer.

What's the going rate on minty WWII 30-06 Garand bandoleers up here? Do they still make appearances at shows? If I buy this guy out, would others be interested in some at this cost plus shipping or is the cost too high?

Ammo is $1 per round, en blocs maybe $1 per and the cloth is debateable. If the dates and markings are something special, that would be better. For instance, DAQ production from Canada would have a premium here.

This was sort of my thoughts as well, but this would not be for shooters.

It's a big premium to be paying for original bandoleers. But, for collector it would beet buying all the components separately and putting them together. I'm just not sure what is market value, or if as you say it would only bring typical shooter grade prices?

I got a few of these a couple of years ago with loaded enblocs from Ellwood Epps for $48.00 ($1/rnd the rest being basically free) before taxes and shipping. Came out to something like $60.00 each to my door.

If you're talking the cloth 'throw-a-way' types, as in the one's that aren't part of the belt. I gave a bunch away back in the winter, all the buyer had to do was pay the shipping. Some people seem to think the bandoleer alone is a ticket item and worth 20 bucks which is laughable. They're garbage. When you get them you'll see why.

Oh BTW I bought 3 of the cloth style bandoleers with 48 rounds in them like the ones that you're refering to for $60 a piece almost one year ago at a gun show, just remember some people want something for nothing.

You're most likely refering to the belt. not a bandoleer. It's actually part of the old style webbing.

I bought mine for $40 or $60 less than a year ago. If it's not like this and is a cheap cloth material, sorry to break it to you but you got hooped.

Yeah, probably the same type of bandoleer. I know the empty bandoleer isn't worth too much.

I think it would be nice to have some fully loaded true WWII bandoleers, but I guess the price is just too high.

Bart, I think he means fully loaded surplus bandoleers.

The WWII bandoleers I was offered are complete with the ammo and enblocks exactly how they were packed into the spam cars during WWII in the factories.

Yeah, sometimes peolpe do like the nostalgia of these bandoleers. I prefer to have the belt style full. As the others were simply to have on you so that the soldier could load themselves with more and throw away during battle once empty.

They will probably have the cardboard inserts aswell. Just be carefull buying the WWII stuff, don't pay too much for it. Contrary to what some people think there's still tonnes of it down in the states waiting for collectors to snatch it up. It's just a little difficult getting it up here but there are some people who have the means or will go through the headaches to get it up here.

I was looking at ammo garand, but the only true WWII stuff is armor piercing and that's a no-go on importing from what I understand.

I always keep my eyes open in the U.S. for nice boxes and bandoleers.

I picked up these boxes from a collector friend in the U.S. but the prices are not as cheap as they were, even on gunbroker collectors grade sealed boxes of WWII USGI ammo are getting significantly more expensive. Even here on the EE I was running an add with no luck. I would love to find more of this stuff locally, same with the bandoleers.

Here is a trick. I brought back armor piercing boxes a few years ago. Got stopped on Canada and they pulled the boxes out saying "What the hell is this?" I pointed out the boxes are empty...with just the dividers inside. They had the "deer in the headlights" look. That's it, just boxes they asked, I said yup. I told them I collect vintage ammo and know that I cannot import Armour Piercing ammo, but I can import "empty" boxes...they agreed. A trip to Wholesale Sports, three boxes of Milsurp 30-06 filled them, plus the careful gluing of the ends, and there you have "legal" armor piercing boxed ammo. All I did was buy full boxes of armor piercing ammo and gave the ammo back to the seller...most paid me back some cash, but I did not really care
The hint is to "CAREFULLY" open the side of the box, not the top...this preserves the complete label...and keep the divider.
Now the silly buggers will come unglued about "that ain't real"...well, it's legal and that is all that matters...period
