what powder for 50 gr NBT .223

Witch powder would be good to push a 50 grain NBT in .223 Varget or H4895. That is the only caliber i will be reloading for now.

Benchmark. H4895 is to slow and varget gives up speed to benchmark.

I use IMR3031 for my 52 grain Hornady Match and 55 grain FMJ Hornady...havent tried other powders but it gives me 1/2" groups at 100 yards.

This!!! Excellent for 223 , is a ball powder so meter VERY well, shoots VERY clean.

I use 25.7gr of varget. Well under an inch 4 shot group speed is about 3100fps.

Man, 50g, I would not want to use anything slower then 3031.

I've found that 3031 is a sweet spot for 223 up to 69g.

For 50 grain, I'd use IMR 4198.

That's just me tho, I don't use any 223 bullets that light in my gun unless I'm plinking on the cheap.

One of these days I need to try some Varget and find out what all the hype is about. It just seems too slow for me.
