Let's see your Tikka T3 Sporters !!

On a side note, do any of you with the rifle know anything about the iron sight adapter option? Check it out:

The ability to go back and forth from scope to iron sights is what really intrigues me about the rifle.

I'd bet it's an elbow grease mod. It'd work great with a bloop tube, I think. Just too bad the barrels are so short.
I was reasonably certain that it was an official option but I can't find the reference to it. I'll be going by Ellwood Epps within the week though and might stop by to drool -- their website says they have three .223 and three .308 models in stock. . . .

The front and rear sights are Anschutz in that picture. Neat mod, but pretty much a homemade advancement. They attach to an 11mm rail, which may be ordered from Brownells without export restrictions. Drill two holes and you're good to go. The front barrel band is similar to those found on the STR. If Sako was ready clever, the muzzle diameter would be common with that found on STR barrels.

Question for the guys that own these. Do you really feel that $900 for that stock is worth it? I ask this because I can get the T3 Varmint that is the same gun with a plainer stock for about $900 bucks less. The Varmint is stainless to boot. Is that laminate stock worth the 900 extra bones? I'm having a hard time seeing the value here.

8 Ball,

Yes, I think it is.

The stock is the reason I bought the rifle.

I sold several other rifles, including a Rem 700 with a HS stock strictly because they just did not fit and feel like I wanted. The day I first held it I thought, god its ugly, but I have never held a stock so nice in my entire life. People kept telling me to just get a similar stock from my Rem, but the after market custom stocks were still not as nice (for my hands)

I took some time and really set up the cheek weld and pull length, so now I have a very comfortable rifle, and I cannot put a value on that, In alot of ways I did not even want the rediclious accuracy, the main reason I bought the rifle was the stock.

Edit: as well, I did not want to tinker, I just wanted an out of the box shooter.

Worth the extra cash.

That's a pretty fair observation. You do get the set trigger too. The stock really is fully adjustable and if you look at aftermarket stocks with adjustable cheek piece and lop are well over 500$ so yes there may a few dollars lost but not too mad as far as I'm concerned.

The stock is excellent and a real beauty. Some rifles have to be handled to be fully appreciated. Did I mention its sub-MOA out of the box?

Here's mine all dressed up ... ready for the range. I'm just waiting for a nice day with a few hours to spare and I'll be hitting the range. I'll be using this for my first attempt with the ladder test technique. I had some 150gr FMJ-BTs sitting around so will use them.

Those 150 gr FMJ BT will shoot +1MOA.
Match bullets like Hornady or Berger will shoot 1/2 MOA.

Bring reloads with match bullets for a comparison.

I've got a box of 178 AMAX that I'll be shooting next. Really the goal is to run through a ladder test, zero the rifle, and get fire formed brass prior to loading up the good stuff.

Hope it was insured!

I had a prior incident where CP broke a stock on a Finnfire, similarly, however insurance covered it without issue. Their stipulations are peculiar though, if you claim the whole rifle as written off, CP will want to take the gun for the insured value cash money.

Here is another view. I have no idea how they broke this. Forklift? The delivery guy did drop it on the front stair of our house but I think it would take way more than that. Canada post made me and the sender stand on one foot and touch our nose etc, but in the end they approved the claim. I won't highjack this thread with any more pictures of it, I just figured a few broken pictures of a rifle as expensive as this would be a nice shocker for this thread.
