Just wondering, how dirty are .22lr remington thunderbolts? Anyone tried them before because I read they could mess up your barrel.

Thanks

Aside from the dud rate I find them to be ok in other regards. I can put five fast mags through my m93 and no leading. But I will have had maybe five duds.

That is all I use in my .22s they work great and are no more dirty than any other bulk grade .22

I use them in ruger 22/45, 10/22 and a buddy at work uses them in his mkII, 10/22 and advantage arms glock conversion. Neither of us have had issues. I have been using them for years.

American Eagle is my go to. Federal work good except they're a bit long in my Savage mag. Never had a problem with Winchester 333 except I find they aren't as accurate as the AE's.

A little dirty....not the rounds you want if your .22's are picky about ammo.

My .22 rifles shoot them fine, my .22 target pistols - not so much.

For plinking I generally use the Federal bulk packs as they are much cleaner

I got WSS to take back an opened brick with 10 rounds missing because they recommended Viper's to me when I bought my first rifle, a regular 10/22

The most popular 22 on the planet and they won't cycle. Maybe the gun was brand new, but still.

I have yet to discover another 22 round that wouldn't cycle in my 10/22.

I find they smell weird too, I can tell when the guy beside me is shooting Remington, it reminds me of a cross between pony-poop and burning hair.

Worst .22lr ammo I have used. Dirty, lots of duds and not very accurate. That was true of Thunderbolts 15 years ago and now... Waste of money. Federal Champion, American Eagle, Winchester Dynpoint GT et al and all much better.

Not necessarily so.
Out of about a dozen brands I tried with my SIG Mosquito,
the Thunderbolts were the only ones that it would properly cycle, during the break-in period.
Dirty and duddy, yes!

You can add my sig .22 converstion to guns that love thunderbolts.

Feel free to mail me any unwanted thunderbolts, I will use them :p

They are rediculous nevermind the gun your gonna have grey thumb syndrome from loading your mags lol i had a buddy give me a brick and i shot one 50 round box and the rest sits in a ammo box reserved for last resorts along with some 762x39 corrosive shtf stock

Theses are junk.

The bullets are covered by some kind of wax and if you shoot fast and the barrel heat up, the inside of your barrel will get a "Nice coating" of wax.....

You'll have to scrub it for hours......
