5/20 Round 5.56 PMAGs

question why would you buy 5 round magazines when the 10 round lar mags have 2x the capacity in a range gun... or NR gun if your hunting, and they are about the same size as the 20 rounder USGI.

Many reasons, really. LCF, easier mag changes, reliability, durability, no fudds yelling at you that your mags are illegal, personal preference. Pick one.

My main arguement for pmags is reliability. I have had many of the LAR15 mags and none are reliable 100%. Where as I have never had a mag related failure from pmags ever. Most of the lar15 mags I was able to get half assed reliable only would do so with 8 or 9 rounds loaded in them.

^^ This. The LAR-15's are better when you upgrade the follower, file the posts down a bit (10.5!) and replace it with either a coupler or ranger plate. They're still junk-ish, but the allure of 10-rounds...

I find the windowed PMAGS to be really hilarious WHEN YOU ARE LIMITED TO 5 ROUNDS. However I have always been a supporter of PMAGS since I first tried them, even ran with them in Afghanistan. They are even becoming the standard issue for a lot of American units, at least a lot of the ones I ran into. Now if we had no mag limits I would be running around to every store to pick up the windowed ones and load em all up with 28 rounds! :D

Windowed Mags are no more hilarious than limited mags. Why not just by actual 5 round mags cuz that's all you can have anyways?

The answer most likely is that people like the look of the 20 or 30 rnd mags in their rifles and the same could be said for those that want windowed mags.

I used to be the same way. Now I believe those types need to be put in their place whenever possible.

I wasted about an hour of my life a few weeks ago arguing with a fudd at the range about my LAR-15 and XCR pistol mags (forgot to print off that RCMP bulletin) and he wouldn't leave until I decided to ignore him. Now I have two copies printed off and in my range bag. I'll still use the 10 rounders, but I prefer PMAGs and the 30rd ones aren't the best for shooting prone.

My club also has a rule against loading more than 5 at a time. I'm really not sure why, but I've been told it's to prevent pissing off the neighbours when people "rapid fire." Oddly, there is no written rule against rapid fire and I've seen club execs firing pistols quite rapidly with 10 rounds loaded in their mags as well as 6 shot revolvers.

I forgot how persistent those clowns can be. I printed off storage and transport regs and have them on my safe and in my range bag. I'll have to print that rcmp notice and add that.

Yeah, he kept ranting on about it being bad on the club if I'm using those mags because "they're illegal" and if the CFO decided to drop by, the whole place would be shut down. I was considering calling the cops myself to get him to go away, but if the cops that came were equally misguided and I didn't have that bulletin I'd be doubly screwed.
