858 Tabbed bolt carriers

Keep in mind that the "light strikes" mentioned in a number of the posts above are perfectly normal.

Every round chambered in an 858 will have that mark, whether you pull the trigger on it or not. It's a by-product of the floating firing pin.

was just starting to say this until i seen ur post .. yep any semi auto with a floating firing pin will leave little dents in the primer just from the motion of the round being chambered.

Wolverine did have a replacement bolt/carrier with trigger and sear ... worked for me.

My gremlin appears to be gone.

Wolverine contacted me to say my rifle was repaired and is on its way back!. When i get more details i will post what was repaired and how it functions! First day off work (if i ever get one) she will be fed A LOT of rounds to test reliabilty.

the csa vz 58's have tabs pre-installed. having said that i have probably 3 or 4 thousand rounds thru my cz 858...and have yet to experience the dreaded "trigger gremlin".

contact csa, maybe they can sell you a bolt carrier which may be cheaper than having sum1 charge you 100+ to do a tiny , simple modification......

maybe you have a misaligned or bent extractor?

I just sent my carrier out for tabbing, it was substantially less than $100. If your an experienced tig welder it's a simple modification, but assuming most people aren't, that's rather subjective. If it was a simple weld job, I would have done it myself, but after talking to the member tabbing my carrier, I decided to send it to him.

Thats the route i am planning. When mine is returned it will be sent to be tabbed. around how much is the cost? im happy to hear less than $100!

Also CSA will not send their tabbed bolts across the border!

Hey I'll send you a pm, just because I'm not sure if the member doing mine will want prices posted?

glad to hear that you have a line on a cheap fix..i was quoted 125.00....lol f'in ridiculous

i was lucky enough to get my hands on a big armorers kit for my 58's, i have 6 spare bolt carriers in it (plus 50lbs of other spare parts)....i wouldn't mind getting them all tabbed up......could you mssg me the guy that does it? :)

just curious.. what exactly needs to be welded ? how big is the tab

i've welded alot of small stuff with my millermatic

125 is alot of bucks

Broncoo is the dude. He does excellent work. Actually I have 2 CSA 58's that have been factory tabbed. Broncoo's work is way better then the factory.Trust me. PM him and ask how much, you should be pleasantly surprised. He's done 4 for me and no problemos

Thanks for that photo! I am hoping this thread will help people understand the issue this rifle can have and the way it can be fixed. Canada post says my 858 will be back from warranty work Thursday!

thanks bros
those pic's really rock

from what i see, its just one little weld bead on the inside
-what is the tab thickness... maybe 1/8" ?

should be a piece o cake for anyone with a decent mig

Well my rifle arrived today from repair! So far it looks exactly the same inside and no form was included to let me know what work was done. It even has powder residue included so i can clean it!...........f:P:2:

Oh well when i get free time i will put it through it paces and i anticipate NO issues! zahal order should be here soon to dress it up a little
