Well my boys just checked in, and they got a nice mountain caribou, saw a monster grizzly over 9 feet #1 son figures (8 1/4" track), no tag and turned down a small moose this a.m. as it would have been a bit of an ordeal and they already had the caribou.
I know my boys though and if they hadn't had the caribou that moose would have been in deep sh!t, tough going or not!!!!!:D

Will post some photos when they get in, in a few hours.

Congrats AGAIN!!!

Cheers

Thanks for that, I'm still working on the #2 son as he's only 12 and #1 is 29. I've given up on him!! They're both very good shots if they don't get flustered.
Oh ya, I almost forgot #2 son got a rabbit with his favorite 358 Win model 7, not enough left to photo I'm told, kinda caught him about midship so to speak.

This has me interested, last week we saw a boar who's track was later measured at 8.5 inches exactly. I always thought OAL bear length was exactly proportionate to track size in inches. What size bear would you figure an 8.5 inch track would be found on? One thing for sure I would have been terrified to pull the trigger on that bear! Biggest bear I had ever seen and 400 meters across a slide he made me feel pretty insignifgant rifle or no.

Great Caribou! He is gonna be extra yummy.

We're talking width of front track only, right? Rule of thumb which seems to be fairly accurate is track width in feet plus 1..... 8" track = 9 ft grizzly.

is it difficult to find a job in Yukon? i have experience in civil engineering.

i would work there for a couple years. i think i have to act quick before your family kill all the game animals.

Hell we've just started, hunting season doesn't close till March. Moose, sheep and bears close Oct 31, but bison and caribou are open till mid Feb for sure and wolves till Mar 31.:D:D

Looks like the boys had a great time Doug; Bryce and his pals got skunked, and over 6 days saw only females. When I get home I'll post some pics of the bear that was hanging around the Chilkoot River.
