Well, I finally upgraded from my single stage rock-chicker to a Hornady lock'n'load AP press a week ago. Now i am pretty much newer to reloading, so it took me probably 6 hrs to get everything setup and testing correctly to reload .357 mag. instructions are very good, if you know the terminology. LOL

after a couple hundred shells i was feeling confident and had the casing feeder tuned in for the longer casings.

I then started to change over the dies to .38 spl and had my flare die set with to much flare so the casing wouldnt come out of the die, of course i gave it a little more power to extract it out on the handle and WHAM.... the drive hub broke in half.

Anyone else have this happen? my drive hub looks like it may have had a old crack in it but its hard to tell. But one call to hornady and a new part is on the way no charge.

just ####ty that my new press is down for a bit now.
 
Ouch that sucks. This press is defiantly on my wishlist of things to get. It's good to hear their warranty lives up to their reputation. Did you get the whole ammo plant?
 
no i just bought the case feeder separate. I like fondling the leads,lol it allows you to catch problem ones. and gives your left hand something to do other than fondle other things..........:p
 
Yup happened to me with my LNL after 100 rounds of 9mm. Hornady sent me a new one in the mail, they said some of the hubs had a bad casting and were weak. Look at your old hub were it broke an if there's dark spots on it, it's a bad casting.
 
That's not the first thing I broke on mine, the primer slide had broke too. They have an update for that, mine as well get them to send that too you to just incase. Since replacing these two things my LNL has been bullet proof.

It does have a couple of dark spots, like it was wet. Hmmm...

I must have gotten one of the bad batch. :mad:
 
Sounds like mine. The good news is they ship fast. I think I got my parts in about a week. Which isn't too bad.
