Hello all,

Trying to help a friend fix his 870 express.

1) It has the aftermarket 20.5" barrel with rifle sight. Barrel is fairly new but the front sight leaf has come loose. The dovetail into the sight base is way too loose, it was fine but after a box of target load it became loose. How can I fix that?

2) When I took the barrel off a small pin fell out of the gun, I took the whole gun including trigger group apart only to match against a assembly diagram I found on the internet. I need everything for the safety button but not the button itself. The pins and springs etc that hold the button in place. Where can I find such small parts.

I am in Toronto area, Mississauga/Brampton.

Please dont tell me to go to a gun-smith and have it fixed unless it involves some very special tools only a smith would have. I just want to fix the sight and get the small parts. I am pretty capable of tinkering with anything and everything and it seems simple enough to do.

Thanks in advance.

How close is the sight dovetail to being right - if it's tight but shoots loose, you might be able to stake it in position. As far as the trigger parts go, Brownells is your friend.

I'll check brownells

The sight is loose enough to be sloppy, it wont even stay on the base enough to cycle the action. Cant believe it was nice and tight out of the box and 25rounds later fell right off.

I had the same problem with my front sight on my Tac Express. I used red loctite. I did the trick.

On a side note, I talked with a Remington distributor at the Gun Room sale last week and told him about all my problems with the 870. He said that Remington was aware of them and that if the shotgun was less than a year old I could send it in and they would all be repaired. You may want to go that route.
