New Brunswick?

It is great, lots of fantastic waterfowling, upland hunting. Bear and deer. Not sure where x55swm is hunting but most folks I know in SE nb fill thier deer tag every year. If you bow hunt I got some land you can hunt that holds nice bucks an hour from mnct.

The whole province has been clear cut. I know a guy who lives in NB that comes to Nova Scotia to hunt deer every year. There is a lot of deer in the farming area around Sussex but it's all private land and hard to get access. The big woods are a thing of the past.

and I see you are coming from Alberta. After deer hunting in NB for a few days you will say there are no deer in NB!

You can always drive to Sask every year that's what I'm doing.

You have to hunt hard in NB... I never got skunked in deer season, but man did I work for it & the general rule was u took the first legal deer in front of u or there may not be another opportunity!

Took 1 bear in Baie St.Anne, love the Miramichi area! Fishing is decent if u work to get into a spot...

Cheers
Jay

Anyone can buy a deer tag (buck) but I'm pretty sure you draw for a doe. That licence includes upland (called small game here) and allows you to harvest hare, grouse, and varmint (coyote, groundhog, crow and cormorant) Waterfowl is simply a sticker from the post office IIRC once you have your licence.

Deer tag goes for about $40, small game only goes for just over $20 and a varmint only is $15.

NB is a beautiful province. The hunting is nice, but like the others have said, you have to work for it. I find it makes supper taste that much better. :)

but it's all private land and hard to get access.

LOL every year on CGN I offer up dream accesss, every year silence........ Truth is there is so much 'private' unposted land that you can hunt a new deer rich spot everyday in SNB.

A step in the wrong direction as far as hunting opportunity goes,

Not exactly, sure there are no GOS sheep areas and the elk hunitng is pretty slim BUT there is something to be said for most hunts taking place with in 20 -30 minutes of your back door and for it being 'nice' to hunt there.

I'll take you up on your dream access...schedule permitting of course.

It is better hunting by far for deer in the south, where I am now. I too spent many seasons getting skunked until I found a good area, have no problem tagging out now. I hunt in the area between Hampton and Sussex, lots of deer.
I used a camp last year in the Coles Island area, which used to be very good for deer 20 years ago. It is now a wasteland for deer but lots of moose. As some people have alluded in their posts it is cut-over and sprayed with herbicide to kill the growth of hardwood. Not exactly wildlife friendly practices in this province presently.

that is the spot for sure. Do not know if there is better whitetail country anywhere.

How do I use the coordinates you provided?
Tazzy Use google earth and set the preferences to NAD 83 UTM. Go to "titusville" to get close (not the one in florida) and then look at the bottom of your screen and the corrdinates will be there, mouse around till they match the ones I gave

Don't know that it ever has been. The caribou would also agree

Thanks guys, is deer on a draw system?

What about upland birds?

For deer it is bucks only, just buy a license, and an annual draw for does.

For upland birds, depending on the year, usually good for woodcock and grouse province wide if you search out your spots. Lots of waterfowl also.
